Project 410 – Royal Huisman turns hull of world’s largest Sloop

Royal Huisman marks the shipyard’s 140th anniversary with the milestone hull turning of the secretive Project 410.

Ready to roll
As a significant milestone during the shipyard’s anniversary year, Royal Huisman will turn the hull of its largest super-sized sailing yacht project ever, the “85m New World Sloop.” This 85m / 280ft marvel will be the world’s largest yacht with a single mast, showcasing the pinnacle of design and engineering.

The highly secretive Project 410 is a co-creation between the owner and his team, Frers Design for the overall concept, exterior design, naval architecture, and Wetzels Brown for the interior design. The design is engineered by Royal Huisman’s in-house team, including expert co-makers.

This iconic project was first unveiled at an exclusive event during the St. Barths Bucket Regatta 2022 and has since remained below the radar, with only a few visuals released. The aluminum hull is built at the shipyard in Vollenhove, The Netherlands, required the extension of Hall 2 to accommodate the impressive construction.

The hull turning of Project 410 marks a memorable milestone. Jan Timmerman, Royal Huisman CEO, adds: “Four of the world’s ten largest sailing yachts are either built by or under construction at Royal Huisman: Athena, Sea Eagle, Project 410 ‘85m New World Sloop’ and a second super-sized sailing yacht currently under construction in Vollenhove will join the top 10 upon delivery. Each super-sized yacht exemplifies the advantages of large sailing yachts over motoryachts. These include the thrill of hoisting sails, cutting through waves, and advanced technologies that enhance comfort.

Super-sized Royal Huisman sailing yachts can benefit from a green footprint, free wind propulsion, and an energy-neutral mode. This mode generates sufficient power for all systems and recharges batteries for silent anchoring. These features were developed by our team before the start of the build of the world’s first hybrid superyacht nearly two decades ago. This is what makes these Royal Huisman super-sized sailing yachts a testimony to the shipyard’s commitment to innovation. They will become the ultimate expression of personal freedom.”

The team achieved a highly anticipated milestone in the creation of Project 410. The impressive 61m / 200ft main part of the aluminum hull was wheeled out of the construction hall of the shipyard in Vollenhove, The Netherlands, revealing her immense scale and two accommodation levels. In a seamless maneuver, four cranes lifted and turned this masterpiece mid-air over the adjacent canal. The upright hull will be placed on a cradle and moved back into Hall 2, her home until completion.

With this significant step completed, the team will now proceed with developing onboard systems, outfitting, and more. The bow section, which is currently under construction, will be attached to the main part in a next stage. Concurrently, sister company Rondal is advancing the production of the carbon boom, mast, and integrated sailing system. Vollenhove: home to the world’s finest superyacht building.
