With seven units sold ahead of the debut, the new benchmark for design and technology arrives in Monaco.
Since its market debut, Azimut’s Grande Series has established itself as a benchmark in the superyacht segment for technological and stylistic innovation. Today, the range reaches a new level of maturity—evidenced by extraordinary commercial success—with a winning design synergy between Alberto Mancini (exteriors) and m2atelier (interiors), combined with the latest breakthroughs in electrification and naval architecture. The new flagship, the Grande 44M—the culmination of this evolutionary journey—will be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show alongside the Grande Trideck and Grande 30M. Bolstered by the sale of seven units even before its official debut, the Grande 44M arrives in Monaco as a true manifesto of the contemporary superyacht.
BREAKING THE MOLD
As has happened many times in Azimut’s history, the yacht’s distinctive character stems from a bold, unconventional choice: introducing a fourth deck on a 44-metre superyacht with a sporty profile, adding an enclosed volume on the Sun Deck dedicated to the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin. The Upper Deck is thus transformed into an exclusive bridge, reserving for the owner the most privileged view on board—a space traditionally reserved for the helm station. Here, a magnificent bow lounge opens up to the sea through massive windows (which can also be opened at the sides), offering an unprecedented vista. As with any true revolution, there is no turning back. The deck layout reflects Azimut’s longstanding focus on versatility, now a distinctive feature of the brand’s philosophy. With a true intentional living approach, the forward area is designed to reflect an authentic, personal style. It can be interpreted according to the owner’s preferences, serving as a lounge, a dining area for up to 12 guests, a media room, or any other bespoke configuration. Meanwhile, the remaining section of the Upper Deck can accommodate either a second panoramic lounge or an owner’s suite complete with a private terrace overlooking the sea.
Aft, the Grande 44M recalls the Mezzanine Deck with the Sea View Terrace—a key factor in the Grande Trideck’s success—made even more spectacular by a See-Through Pool. This plunge pool plays with transparency to maintain constant visual connection with the sea and creates light reflections that lend a magical quality to the beach club below. When needed, the pool can be covered to transform into a walkable deck—or a dance floor under the moonlight. The Beach Club is extraordinary in scale. Unlike traditional layouts, the staggered-deck architecture creates a full-height space, ensuring uninterrupted volumes with no steps or changes in level breaking up the flow of the space. The area expands to merge with the surroundings: large side wings fold down toward the water, while the stern hatch incorporates a convenient, retractable hydraulic staircase for seamless, natural access to the sea.
THE FLAGSHIP OF LOW EMISSION YACHTS
The Grande 44M represents the pinnacle of Azimut’s technological research and establishes itself as the flagship of the Low Emission Yacht fleet, guaranteeing a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 30% compared to a traditional naval architecture of the same size. The yacht’s extraordinary efficiency is the result of the synergy between several advanced solutions:
- Hull Vane® foil technology: developed in collaboration with the company of the same name, it consists of a carbon fiber foil installed aft to suppress the stern wave and generate additional thrust. This represents a breakthrough in lightweight engineering: if made of steel, the foil would have weighed a full 1,500 kg, while Azimut’s technical contribution in the application of carbon fiber has allowed it to be reduced to just 400 kg. The use of the Hull Vane® foil translates into a significant reduction in hydrodynamic drag and superior onboard comfort, thanks to the substantial decrease in pitch and roll.
- The Dual Mode hull: designed by the Azimut|Benetti Group R&D department in partnership with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture, it combines the advantages of a fast displacement hull at the bow with those of a semi-planing hull at the stern, optimizing fuel efficiency across the entire speed range.
- Structural lightening: 50% of the yacht’s surface area is made of carbon fibre, covering more than 1,000 square metres and reducing weight by 8 tonnes in the yacht’s upper sections. This weight reduction makes it possible to increase onboard volumes without compromising the hull’s stability, performance or overall efficiency. An achievement made possible by the strategic investments of the Azimut|Benetti Group, particularly in the new Composites Hub in Massa, a center of excellence dedicated to fiberglass and carbon fiber.
- The Mild Hybrid system: developed by the Azimut|Benetti Group with Asea Nautica, the system is based on two 50 kW electric motors configured as shaft generators and a 188-kWh battery room (expandable up to 230 kWh). This technology allows the yacht to remain at anchor with the generators off and in absolute silence for 3 to 4 hours during the day and 8 to 10 hours at night. This solution eliminates fumes and noise, revolutionizing the quality of life onboard. The Mild Hybrid system also fully recharges the battery pack in just two hours at a speed of 15 knots, allowing the yacht to use the average repositioning time to reach the next bay with renewed Zero Emissions hotel load autonomy.
- Solar panels: 30 square meters of integrated photovoltaic surface on the fourth deck to support the hotel load.
