The show established Olympic Marine as a yachting hub, bringing together more than 120 boats, 400 premium brands and thousands of visitors from Greece and abroad.
On Sunday, October 18, at 7 p.m., horns sounded across Olympic Marine in Lavrio, marking the close of the 6th Olympic Yacht Show, the largest in-water boat show in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean, focused exclusively on boat sales. For four days, Lavrio became a meeting point for the international yachting market. In a festive and enthusiastic atmosphere, more than 20,000 visitors came to Olympic Marine to explore a diverse fleet of 120 boats moored in their natural environment: imposing motor yachts, elegant sailing yachts, high-performance day cruisers and luxury catamarans, all over nine meters in length. Technological innovation took center stage, along with the presentation of new models to the Greek market, which drew strong interest from both the media and the public.
The experience, however, was not limited to the boats. In the show’s land-based section, leading companies in electronics, boat equipment, brokerage and insurance completed a comprehensive ecosystem of industry professionals and informed visitors about their products and services. The event’s international dimension was equally strong. More than 800 visitors traveled from abroad, while media representatives and business executives from over 30 countries came to Lavrio. Their presence reinforced the show’s international profile, highlighted Greece as a destination and hub for the yachting industry, and opened up new opportunities for collaboration.
For the domestic market, the Olympic Yacht Show has also become strategically important. It acts as a catalyst for outward-looking growth and creates new business opportunities by bringing shipyards, dealers, manufacturers, designers, service providers, maritime tourism professionals, investors and boat owners into direct contact. In a high-level setting, exchanging know-how, striking deals and building partnerships becomes easier, with a tangible impact on the entire sector.
Commenting on the close of the event, Gerasimos Gerolimatos, Chairman of the Olympic Yacht Show Organizing Committee, said: “The 6th Olympic Yacht Show has come to a close, and we feel deep satisfaction and gratitude. Over four days, Olympic Marine welcomed more than 20,000 visitors, 120 boats in the water and 400 brands, while the participation of visitors, professionals and media representatives from over 30 countries confirms the event’s international reach. We warmly thank our exhibitors, partners and supporters, as well as every visitor who came to Lavrio. The Olympic Yacht Show is now an established institution that showcases Greece’s strength in both yachting and maritime tourism. Our goal is for the show to keep growing, and to welcome you next year to an even more successful event.“
“Behind the Olympic Yacht Show lies a very big effort, made with love. Our goal is to give new momentum to maritime tourism, and today the event has become a point of reference for the pleasure craft market in Greece. I believe our country has everything it takes to become a hub of European and global yachting. We are already a force in commercial shipping, and we can excel here too, provided there is a stable, long-term political framework. We are working to ensure that the professionals of the sector are present at the show, presenting products and services first-hand. The public has embraced the Olympic Yacht Show, and attendance is high, despite the bad weather of the first few days. We want the sea and the land to come closer together, and the industry to become known to everyone, not only in coastal areas but also in the hinterland,” underlined George Prokopiou, owner of Olympic Marine.
Nikos Tzinieris, COO of EKO, stated: “EKO has supported the event as a sponsor for the sixth consecutive year. Yachting has enormous potential for the Greek economy, as it creates value, attracts new investment and develops quality tourism. OYS is an event with international appeal, and it becomes more important every year.”
The Olympic Yacht Show is more than an exhibition. It has evolved into a modern “ideas hub” for Greek and international yachting, a living forum for dialogue where new trends are presented and tomorrow’s ideas are born, linking entrepreneurship with innovation, sustainability and a vision for a stronger future for the Greek maritime economy. With the successful completion of this year’s event, it has once again confirmed its place as an established institution and a worthy contender among Europe’s leading events of its kind.
