Novamarine announced the sale of its 26-meter BS 260 maxi-RIB, which will become the world’s largest upon delivery in 2028.
Italian boat builder Novamarine has announced the sale of the first unit of its BS 260 maxi-RIB to an Italian client. Measuring 26 meters in length with a seven-meter beam, the vessel will claim the title of the world’s largest maxi-RIB upon its scheduled delivery in 2028. According to the Olbia-based shipyard, the BS 260 aims to redefine the category by merging the stability and safety of high-performance rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) with the comfort and livability of traditional luxury yachts. The new flagship represents the largest offering in Novamarine’s flagship Black Shiver line, which currently ranges from the 10-meter BS 100 to the 20.1-meter BS 200. “The sale of the first BS 260 marks a major milestone in Novamarine’s journey within the pleasure craft sector,” said Francesco Pirro, Chairman and CEO of Novamarine. “With this model, we have not only designed the world’s largest maxi-RIB, but also sought to redefine industry standards for technology and onboard comfort.”
Design and Onboard Experience
The BS 260 features a low, taut, and athletic profile, characterized by a long, clean bow and a compact central superstructure. Continuous signature tubes run along the sides, serving as an integral architectural element rather than a mere design detail. Designed to maximize indoor-outdoor living, the onboard spaces offer a serene and expansive atmosphere. The stern opens up into a large open deck fitted with lounge sofas and seamless access to the water. Moving forward, the deck flows into a sheltered central lounge equipped with twin sofas and a dining area. Enclosed by large glazed side surfaces and overhead openings, the space functions as a protected outdoor deck rather than a traditional enclosed saloon. Below deck, the layout accommodates guests across three private cabins, alongside a fourth dedicated crew cabin designed to optimize privacy and vessel operation.
Performance and Market Impact
Powering the BS 260 will be twin MTU engines delivering a combined 4,400 horsepower, engineered to ensure high top speeds alongside precise handling in demanding sea conditions. “This contract confirms the market’s and our clients’ confidence in our vision and innovation—especially given that this sale was secured prior to construction,” Pirro added. “It is tangible proof of our clients’ trust, and we remain dedicated to building unique vessels that blend Novamarine’s high-performance DNA with luxury yachting comfort.” The announcement follows Novamarine’s commercial agreement signed last year with Palumbo Superyachts to produce highly customized tenders across Palumbo’s four superyacht brands.
