This year marks the 40th anniversary of one the longest lasting and most successful partnerships in the sport of yachting.
The relationship between Title Sponsor Rolex and event host the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda began back in 1984 with the inaugural Rolex Swan Cup, the first Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup being held a year later in 1985.
In recent years, the collaboration at this latter event has been extended to include the International Maxi Association, responsible for fostering the high standards the owners and crews of the world’s most impressive and potent yachts have come to expect when racing.
With only one day of competition so far completed due to an unprecedented number of days lost to high winds, expectation is high for a dramatic conclusion to the 34th Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, tomorrow, Saturday 14 September.
