New superyacht models Johnson 70 and 115

Johnson Yachts proudly unveiled the design of the Johnson 115, the builder’s new superyacht flagship.

The Johnson 115 will be a completely new hull carrying the luxury appointments of a world-class yacht. Johnson Yachts has been on the leading edge of the large-volume design revolution for years and the new 115 will showcase the company’s leadership and foresight even further. With a layout of five or six staterooms and high levels of customization available, Johnson Yacht’s flagship will draw the eye of superyacht connoisseurs in harbors around the world.

“In recent years, we’ve been getting quite a few inquiries about building tri-deck superyachts,” said Andy Huang, president of Johnson Yachts. “It’s time for us to come up with a stunning new breed of yacht that will fascinate the world.” The Johnson 115 is just such a yacht, and will make an unforgettable first impression with her noteworthy exterior lines. Designed by Bill Dixon of Dixon Yacht Design, she has a striking plumb bow that carries her volume forward. In addition, her tri-deck profile is inviting with large windows, all protected by bulwards artfully inlaid with glazing to preserve views from everywhere on board.

With an interior design created by Design Unlimited, the Johnson 115 has social areas that center on a comfortable, welcoming saloon where guests and family can intermingle and enjoy the fresh air of the after deck through wide-opening aft bulkhead doors on pleasant days, then come together in the formal dining area forward. As with all Johnson Yachts, the finishes and furnishings are up to the owner’s discretion and specification, and the builder pays close attention to material choices and furnishings that offer a level of sophistication worthy of a superyacht.

The Johnson 115 has no shortage of gathering places, including an urbane skylounge, a versatile foredeck area, and an inviting beach club aft. The skylounge will have unparalleled views thanks to its elevated position and large windows. This upper level also will offer a similar seamless indoor-outdoor feel, opening wide to an open-air aft deck that also shelters the main deck aft. The foredeck area is designed for anything from secluded sunning to gathering friends and family together with a seating area that rivals those of much larger yachts. Aft is a large hydraulic swim platform to bring owner and guests closer to the sea. A transom garage opens to reveal a beach club for superyacht-style entertainment. The swim platform will accomodate a 16-foot (5-meter) tender athwartships, while a garage behind the beach club can ship an18-foot (5.5- meter) tender.

A layout encompassing five or six staterooms will welcome a full complement of guests aboard, with the privacy of separate heads and berth arrangements at the discretion of the owner. Johnson Yachts has vast experience managing the engineering and mechanical aspects of the yacht so prospective owners merely have to concern themselves with choosing the look and feel of the spaces where they will enjoy their time aboard.

Johnson 70: entry-level superyacht

Say hello to the Johnson 70. As discerning yacht buyers know, Johnson Yachts has had success for 30 years by building yachts that are an interior-volume upgrade from most of the market. The result is an interior that factors the space needs of family and guests into the design, while also maintaining a high standard of engineering for the yacht. The combination results in comfort for all aboard in terms of space and also with the peace of mind in knowing the yacht is built as she should be.

The Johnson 70 is designed by Bill Dixon of Dixon Yacht Design to provide much of the superyacht experience in a manageable LOA. With an available skylounge or an open flying bridge, the Johnson 70 shows the same level of customization as the rest of the Johnson line, encouraging owner input on the design of the accomodations, as well as the helm area, the saloon, dining area, and galley. Three- and four-stateroom layouts are available on the lower deck of this sleek yacht, capitalizing on the wide beam. Yachtsmen can request a skylounge to preclude the need for a lower helm, and the result is truly a blank canvas on which they can work with Johnson to create the shared spaces of their dreams. A fishing cocpit can increase the yacht’s flexibility as each build in the series is expected to be set apart from those before.

“We want to create a new line of yacht that sets the trend rather than follows it,” said Peter Chang, general manager of Johnson Yachts. “With the design and engineering of the Johnson 70, we have a yacht designed to be versatile, and yet will still fit the description of an entry-level superyacht!”
