New Columbus Crossover 42 Sold

Columbus Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, announces the sale of its first 42 metre Crossover under construction at the Palumbo Superyachts Savona shipyard. The American customer was introduced by Zarpo Yachts and the boat will be delivered in 2025.

“Substantial investments have been made in our Savona shipyard which we regard as a strategic facility both in terms of geographical position and of infrastructure and services available to shipowners and their crews. In Savona, our strategy is to keep on with new ship construction, guarantee a strategic berth to our fleet boats and provide our certified skills for the maintenance and refit services of boats up to 60 metres”, comments Giuseppe Palumbo CEO of Palumbo Superyachts.

The exterior of Columbus Crossover 42 is owed to Hydro Tec studio, while Hot Lab penned the interior design.

The exterior lines come in a modern and muscular package, with a predominance of straight and angled surfaces and a concentration of volumes in the bow area, typical of explorers. The hull is displacement, with a bulbous bow and flat, tapered stern sections. The construction is in steel with aluminum superstructures.

Crossover 42 is a superyacht with compact but extremely flexible dimensions allowing the cockpit to accommodate not only a large tender with a stern built-in crane in the starboard side, but also a 10 sqm swimming pool with convivial and relaxation areas.

Columbus Crossover 42 can accommodate up to 12 guests across 4 cabins positioned below deck (3 VIP and 1 double with twin beds) and a full-beam master cabin on the main deck, with central bed, wardrobe, office desk and bathroom with double sink.

The dining area has been conceived for 12-seater. While, in addition to spacious sunbathing and relaxation zones, the sundeck provides a bar and a second table which can be transformed into a sun lounger if necessary.

A crew of 9 is accommodated across 4 double cabins below deck while the captain cabin is on the upper deck next to the wheelhouse.

The propulsion system includes two Caterpillar C 32s of 970 kW each allowing to reach a maximum speed of over 14 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. The range is over 5,500 miles at the economical speed of 10 knots thanks to tanks of about 60 m³ capacity.

Two watermakers, of approximately 8.6 m³/day, feed the fresh water tanks with total capacity of approximately 10 m³.

Columbus Crossover 42 is equipped with two pairs of stabilizers applied to reduce roll motion under way and at zero speed.
