The M/Y 25m Eco-tender, which was penned entirely by Perini Navi’s in-house designers, has won the “Environment and Energy” category at the 2019 MDO.Montecarlo Prize.
Organised by SAM MDO under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, this is a new international award that honours companies from all over the world that have excelled in the areas of innovation, technology, design and sustainability. The prizes were presented yesterday evening at a special ceremony at the Yacht Club de Monaco in the presence of the MDO.Montecarlo Prize’s international jury of experts. Perini Navi’s first motor yacht since the company rebranding and also the first-ever planing model in the yard’s fleet, the 25m Eco-tender is a “mini superyacht” created to meet the needs of one of our owners who already had a Perini Navi sailing yacht, but wanted a completely independent extension of that craft. Built entirely from aluminium, the Eco-tender mirrors the vocation for exploration already displayed by the yard’s other motoryachts: Exuma, Galileo G and Nautilus (formerly known as Grace E).
The 25m’s lines make it instantly recognisable: its classic “Perini” navy blue hull is topped by a white superstructure and it has a low, tapered profile with wraparound bow windows. The aftward extension of the deckhouse references another signature Perini Navi sailing yacht styling cue. It also not only shelters the cockpit and fulfils other practical functions but is wrapped in unmistakeably stylish lines.
The innovations introduced by the Eco-tender include its propulsion system, a navigation system unique for a motoryacht of its dimensions, and the Anchor Watching System. It also boasts a double VSAT system for internet connection and three Iridium telephones, which can maintain a 100 Mbps connection to the mother ship even when she is tens of miles away. “We greeted this news with great satisfaction and we are honoured to share your prize with the owner who encouraged us to design a craft this revolutionary as well as with everyone that contributed to making the project real,” commented Edoardo Tabacchi, Perini Navi’s Vice Chairman and Majority Shareholder. “We are proud of this prize because it is presented to companies that excel in quality and innovation, both adjectives that describe Perini Navi yachts very well indeed.”
