Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts launched the fully custom 45-metre superyacht TX450, featuring hybrid propulsion and expansive sub-500GT living spaces.
Last 31 August, Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts has marked another important milestone with the launch of its latest 45-metre superyacht, the TX450. At the launch, the Owner, his family and team, the entire Tankoa management and team, and all the partner companies who contributed to the successful completion of this important construction milestone, gathered. The ceremony included the traditional blessing of the yacht and the customary godmother’s christening, followed by a celebration organised especially for the occasion at the yard’s facilities.
Hailing from the Middle East, TX450’s Owner is a highly experienced yachtsman, having owned several yachts in the past. As a result, he knew exactly what he wanted from his Tankoa build: aiming for a sub-500GT yacht which offered the volume, living areas and space distribution typically found on a much larger vessel.
The project was developed jointly by the Owner and Cassetta Yacht Designers – the studio responsible for both the interior and exterior design – and perfectly reflects the Owner’s vision and requirements. Naval architecture is by Italian marine design firm NAMES and engineering is by inNave, in cooperation with Tankoa Technical Department.
In line with the Tankoa T450 model, the TX450 has evolved into an entirely new yacht and is 100% custom, sharing only the same designer as her predecessor. The interiors, designed by Cassetta Yacht Designers, were conceived around the way the Owner intends to use the yacht.
The resulting vessel has a highly distinctive configuration, featuring an additional deck and wider beam than the yacht’s predecessor. She also boasts living areas which span the entire upper deck, guest cabins on the main deck alongside the owner’s suite (accommodating up to 10 guests across 5 staterooms), a dedicated gym and spa area, additional guest accommodation on the lower deck including a convertible cabin, and an enclosed veranda on the bridge deck.
Overall, the TX450 is a truly unique yacht and represents a clear example of Tankoa’s boutique approach to yachtbuilding. Performance-wise, the TX450 is equipped with a full hybrid propulsion system, combining conventional engines with electric motors and batteries for a max speed at half load of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. This provides exceptional operational flexibility, enhanced safety and redundancy, and zero-emission operation when running in full-electric mode. In addition, this also allows the yacht to remain at anchor overnight on battery power alone, and to cruise for few hours in full-electric mode.
