A new Arctic adventure now combines the tradition of a native Sami Lavvu (teepees used whilst herding reindeer) with the comfort of a luxury Arctic cabin – all located on an Arctic nature reserve in the spectacular Laponia World Heritage Site.
The new accommodation, opening for its first guests this January, takes the experience of staying in a traditional Sami Lavvu and elevateds it with a bespoke solid internal structure creating cosiness and warmth, while maintaining the design, sustainability and culture inspired by nature and the Sami people.
The new accommodation is central to a new and exclusive Sampi Experience adventure by Off the Map Travel that will see visitors spend three nights in Swedish Lapland.
Guests embarking on this new adventure will experience all aspects of the Sami culture from the comfort of the new Lavvu accommodation - 100 miles above the Arctic circle.

“The new accommodation each sleep two and are furnished with amazing comfy double beds, stoves and cosy furnishings and a private en suite bathroom, all inspired by nature and the Sami culture.
During your stay, along with immersive planned experiences, you can get as hands on as you like with day-to-day life.
For those that like food you can help and learn how to prepare and cook dishes based on the Sami cuisine where fish, reindeer and moose supplemented by berries and herbs from the area with the majority of the meat and fish coming from the host family.”
The new accommodation has been created by the founders of the Sápmi Nature Camp in Swedish Lapland whose mission is to create sustainable, off grid, personal Sami experiences that celebrate the native Lapland culture, nature and wellness.
Available from January 2022, the new accommodation will be available throughout the year for guests to enjoy the Arctic nature from the dark winter nights and Northern Lights, through to the midnight sun the in the summer.
Sustainability is also at the core of the Sápmi Nature Camp having been granted the “Natures Best approved” award, an ecotourism Sweden’s only sustainability label in recognition for sustainable nature-based experiences.
The three-night, four-day, Sampi Experience itinerary from Off the Map Travel costs from the £2099 per person, not including flights, based on 2 adults travelling on a full board basis.
The itinerary includes all transfers, three nights in the new lavvu accommodation, the chance to learn about the Sami culture, a Sami guided skiing tour, the chance to meet the reindeer herdsman and his family, a wildlife safari to spot moose, and an experience to head out onto a frozen river and take part in a traditional Sami Fika exclusive to Off the Map Travel.
