New, nearly 20-metre yacht extends the portfolio of the German shipyard. Several units have already been sold.
German luxury sailing yacht builder YYachts has delivered its first Y6, a nearly 20-metre carbon sailing yacht that combines the comfort, quality and individuality of a superyacht with remarkably intuitive handling. As the most compact model in the YYachts range, alongside the Y7, Y8 and Y9, the Y6 has been created for owners who value freedom, privacy and the ability to sail their yacht themselves or with a small crew. Designed by renowned American naval architect Bill Tripp, the new Y6 represents a distinctive evolution of the YYachts philosophy: lightweight performance, clean design and effortless ownership.
At 19.65 metres in hull length and with a displacement of just 25.9 tonnes, the Y6 is built using advanced carbon-epoxy sandwich construction. The combination of high stiffness and low weight is designed to deliver responsive sailing performance, particularly in light winds. The yacht’s distinctive exterior combines YYachts’ characteristic low-profile coachroof and clean deck layout with a pronounced chine, giving the new model an unmistakable character.
Despite her size, the Y6 has been conceived for straightforward operation. All sheets and halyards are led aft to the twin helm stations, leaving the guest cockpit largely free from sailing hardware. A self-tacking jib, furling boom, electric winches and additional assistance systems further simplify handling, allowing the yacht to be sailed single-handed or by a couple. An efficient engine and integrated bow thruster are designed to make harbour manoeuvring equally stress-free.
Below deck, the Y6 offers an exceptional degree of flexibility for a yacht in the 60- to 65-foot segment. Owners can choose between a variety of layouts, generally incorporating three or four cabins, while additional options include a dedicated workspace, an additional lounge or a crew cabin forward. For the interior, YYachts has once again collaborated with renowned Danish architect David Thulstrup, whose work previously helped shape the Y8 and the new Y7.
Together with the YYachts Design Team, led by Francesca Modica, they developed four distinct interior concepts: Milano, Baltic, Sugi Ban and Glacier. Ranging from warm Mediterranean sophistication and Nordic clarity to dramatic contrasts and understated contemporary elegance, each creates a distinctive atmosphere while providing owners with a strong foundation for further personalisation.
