Only 170 numbered pieces, one for every year since the establishment of the historic Italian yacht manufacturer: the Millemetri Baglietto 1854 Watch, produced in cooperation with Florence-based artisanal watchmaking brand Millemetri Firenze, is a timepiece that embodies style and nautical tradition, epitomising the harmonious blend of world-class craftsmanship, elegance, and maximum reliability underwater.
Designed with the precious contribution of designer Francesco Paszkowski, who has been interpreting the spirit of the Seagull brand for over thirty years, and the designer Alberto Grassi, the Millemetri Baglietto 1854 Watch has been created to celebrate Baglietto’s heritage on the occasion of its 170th anniversary.
This model features many custom details: from the Baglietto logo on the – it goes without saying – blue dial, to the limited edition number engraved on the back of the case, which – in addition to the Anniversary celebration logo – also bears the famous motto ‘Memento Audere Semper’ (Always Remember to Dare) coined by Italian poet D’Annunzio for the historical MAS (torpedo-armed motorboats) that made the brand famous during World Wars I and II.
The crown is also custom-made, engraved with the seagull pictogram, and the strap could only be Baglietto Blue. This unique watch comes in an equally exclusive box in glossy blue lacquered wood with a stainless steel logo finish.
CHARACTERISTICS:
The Millemetri Baglietto 1854 Watch case is crafted on numerical control machines from a solid bar of bronze/aluminium, highly resistant to atmospheric and marine corrosion. The watch is tested at a depth of over 2,000 metres in the Gulf of Augsburg.
It mounts a Sellita 200-1 automatic movement set on 26 jewels with satin finish, has a beat rate of 28,800 vph/bph and a 38-hour power reserve, and is fitted with a patented automatic release valve. Sapphire crystal ensures maximum scratch resistance as well as enhanced sealing against underwater pressure (100 ATM).
The dial, with numbers in LUMINOVA, a luminescent material, is perfectly visible for many hours even in poor lighting conditions. The leather strap has been treated with nanotechnology to make it perfectly compatible with the marine environment.
Baglietto:
Boat builder Baglietto specialises in the construction of new planing aluminium yachts and steel & aluminium semi-displacement mega-yachts ranging between 35 and 65 metres in length. Baglietto can currently rely on 2 production sites, in La Spezia (headquarters) and Carrara (operating site).
The La Spezia headquarters extend over an area of approximately 35,000 sq. m. Over the last few years, considerable investments were made to extensively renovate the entire production site: 3 new sheds for the construction of yachts up to 65 m in length were built in La Spezia, as well as new fully-equipped quays to berth vessels of up to 70 m. An approximately 1,200-ton travel lift – the largest in Europe – allows for the haulage and launch of up-to-65 m long yachts.
The operating site in Carrara, conversely, comprises 2 areas of 5,000 sq. m each. One is used to build military crafts under the Baglietto Navy brand as well as some models of the iconic brand Betram Yachts, which joined the Baglietto Group in 2015; the second area is equipped with 4 new sheds for the construction of the DOM line and yachts up to 46 m long.
