7. Focus on yachting
In 2021, the 1st Olympic Yacht Show is successfully held at Olympic Marine.
This premium in-water show, which was missing from the country’s nautical events, is a most powerful, truly ideal means of developing quality tourism and lays the foundations for the creation of an institution that will call attention to Greece on the world map of yachting.
In the same year, ONDECK MEDIA puts under the spotlight the protagonists of yachting with “The People of Yachting”, a luxury book edition dedicated to the people who inspire us and keep the yachting and sea tourism market moving. In 2021, the company undertakes the publication of SEABORN, the official magazine of Technohull, the acclaimed Greek brand that has become one of the biggest success stories of the country’s business scene.
8. Waves of success
A few months before the 2nd Olympic Yacht Show, in 2022, OYS is actively present at the 9th edition of the Tourism Awards, where it is awarded the Bronze Award in the Festivals-Exhibitions category for its contribution to the promotion of yachting and sea tourism.
On October 7, 2022, the 2nd Olympic Yacht Show opens its gates again in the presence of representatives of the country’s political and business world. Reaching a new record-high of visitors and boats, the event constitutes an international meeting place for people who are active in the diverse yachting market; people who are given the opportunity to exchange ideas on the development of quality sea tourism, which promotes our country worldwide. The event was covered by international media proving for one more year that the Olympic Yacht Show -now an institution in its own right- rightfully claims a place among the equivalent top events in Europe.
The year closes with ONDECK’s participation in the 100% Hotel Show and the organization of a special session on “Yacht Design: The next day of yachting and how it affects hotel growth”.
Curator of the workshop was Gerasimos Gerolimatos, founder of ONDECK MEDIA, and the speakers were Nikolaos Dafnias, Managing Director of Alpha Marine Ltd., Anna Koutsoukosta, Principal Architect of the award-winning AMK Architecture & Design, and Nikos Manafis, founder of nikos.manafis design office.
9. The next big thing
From the sea to the mountains, 2023 starts on a whole new page for ONDECK which climbs up high, to 1,950m to be precise and to the Ski Center of Kellaria on Parnassos. Its new collaboration with the energetic Snowflake Winter School leads to the first issue of Snowflake, a premium bilingual edition dedicated to skiing, mountain activities and mountain lifestyle.
ONDECK’s immediate plans include the 2nd edition of the Yachting Awards, which are expected to return to Zappeion Megaron, paying tribute to the people who have been the country’s greatest ambassadors abroad for decades and to the new generation of entrepreneurs who carry the torch forward with a vision and fresh ideas.
10. Exclusive collaborations
As part of the efforts to further improve its leading position in the Greek business scene of Yachting and Sea Tourism, ONDECK MEDIA has partnered with CEO Clubs Greece, the first premium and exclusive Club of CEOs and Entrepreneurs in Greece, Club Ecali, the first country club in Greece to bring together a strong business community, but also the Greek Community of Monaco, which was founded in 1952 and remains to this day a pole of attraction for Greek shipowners and businessmen who live and do business in the Principality of Côte d’Azur.
11. New digital era
Aiming towards a new, modern and revamped look, skipperondeck.gr is getting ready to enter a new trajectory. The next day of the new digital era will find the site of our favourite magazine even more usable, easy-to-navigate and user-friendly. Modern and attractive, with high aesthetics that will reflect the status of the company and fully compatible with new technologies, skipperondeck.gr will soon welcome its readers to a digital world that will be a feast for the eyes.
12. The fleet
As for the company’s boat, true to the love of ONDECK’s founder for the sea and his personal involvement with things pertaining to it, S/Y ONDECK is more than another sailboat; she is the natural continuation of ONDECK MEDIA’s activities, representing its deep relationship with the industry. Built by the French Jeanneau Chantier Naval, the elegant Sun Odyssey 440 is available for charters, corporate events, meetings and promotional activities year-round. Also the famous Technohull SeaDna999G6 has been specially designed for ONDECK. Equipped with 2 x 300hp Mercury engines, she travels at 45 knots and reaches final speeds of over 65 knots.
