A new benchmark in seamless indoor-outdoor living: Alia 45m Genie Blu

Designed around the sea, the Genie Blu yacht by LUCA DINI Design replaces traditional volume with transparency and openness.

With the launch of the 45-metre Genie Blu, LUCA DINI Design & Architecture celebrates the completion of a yacht shaped by a simple but powerful principle: the sea should be the protagonist. Building upon an existing exterior design and creating the yacht’s interiors, the studio contributed to a vessel that departs from the traditional emphasis on enclosed volume and gross tonnage, embracing instead a philosophy of openness, transparency and direct engagement with the surrounding environment.

The result is a highly contemporary yacht where architecture gives way to experience and every space is conceived to strengthen the connection between guests and the water. From the earliest stages of the design development, the project was guided by a clear ambition: to create a yacht that would be experienced from the outside in, rather than from the inside out. The result is a vessel characterized by exceptionally clean lines, carefully crafted details and a deliberate reduction of enclosed volume in favour of generous, uninterrupted living spaces connected to the sea.

A defining feature of Genie Blu is its extensive use of glazing and visual transparency. The yacht’s design incorporates a fully glazed main deck, dissolving traditional boundaries between interior and exterior spaces and allowing natural light to become an integral part of the onboard experience. Outdoor areas have been given equal importance to interior spaces, creating a fluid and continuous environment that encourages guests to engage directly with the surrounding seascape.

“Too often yachts are conceived around volume and numbers. With Genie Blu, we wanted to reverse that approach,” says Luca Dini, Founder and Creative Director of LUCA DINI Design & Architecture. “The project is based on subtraction rather than addition. We removed barriers, reduced unnecessary volume and opened the yacht wherever possible. The objective was not to maximize gross tonnage, but to maximize the owner’s experience of the sea.”

The yacht’s flexible layout further reflects this philosophy, offering multiple ways of configuring outdoor and social spaces according to different moments of life on board, from intimate family cruising to larger gatherings with guests. Inside, LUCA DINI Design & Architecture developed an interior language that continues the dialogue established by the yacht’s open and transparent character. Materials, finishes and colour palettes draw inspiration from the exterior environment, creating a coherent visual narrative throughout the yacht. Neutral tones, natural textures and refined detailing establish an atmosphere of understated elegance while preserving the unmistakable character of a true seagoing vessel.

“Luxury today is no longer about excess,” Dini adds. “It is about authenticity, comfort and emotional connection. We wanted guests to feel they are living aboard a yacht, surrounded by the sea, rather than inside a floating showroom. Every material, every colour and every proportion was selected to support that feeling.”

With its emphasis on transparency, versatility and outdoor living, Genie Blu represents a contemporary interpretation of superyacht design, one where experience takes precedence over metrics and where design becomes a frame for life at sea.
