Solaris Yachts will introduce the new 18 meters long yacht designed by Javier Soto Acebal, in collaboration with the studio Roseo for the interior design.
The concept of the boat is very innovative and besides including all the distinctive features of the yard, like the exclusive construction technique, the strong seaworthiness and the great functionality, technique and safety, it offers, in these dimensions, many brilliant solutions that you can find only on boats bigger than 30 meters.
The digital event will be a preview of the official event, scheduled for this Spring.
In this occasion, in addition to the presentation videos, the interviews and the technical details, it will be possible to book a guided digital tour of the boat.
DESIGN
The Solaris 60 is a boat designed to combine on board comfort and sailing performances of a proper racer, all combined by a modern and elegant design of the hull and wide and convenient interiors realised with materials and finishing of unconditional quality.
Among the solutions that distinguish this boat you will find a cockpit with two full width steering wheels, that allow an unprecedented view and let you steer easily leaning against the lifelines, without the intrusion of the sprayhood and having always in plain sight the jib’s luff.
The adjustable seats dedicated to the helmsman are particularly comfortable and dry because the water that flows on the side decks cannot reach them.
The wide cockpit can easily accommodate one or two tables for cruising.
With such broad helm positions, the lifelines have been lowered in the aft area and raised near the two steps that lead to the comfortable side decks. This solution, typical of boats bigger than 100 feet, has been perfectly absorbed by this design, where an aerodynamic and sleek coachroof, preserves the line with the cockpit, finishing before the mast, feature that you can see only in few other boats.
INTERIORS
The balance of the exterior design is also reflected in the interior layout, mixing a warm and classical layout with new solutions. The galley is slightly concealed by two steps forward, offering a large and comfortable area. Aft, you will find two light cabins, with single or double beds, both for the first time equipped with a wide porthole facing the interior of the cockpit. Each one is equipped with its own bathroom with separate shower. The forward owner’s cabin is particularly sought after, characterised by a convenient and wide storage space, offering the possibility of choosing either a central or an offset bed and a large bathroom with separate shower. The crew cabin, forward, is equipped with bathroom and it’s separated by two bulkheads to preserve high privacy and autonomy on board.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
The composite, slightly recessed outboard chainplates, as well as for the backstay that terminates below deck, are details that confer functionality and cleanliness to the deck. Even the tensioner consists of one folding cylinder in the tender garage that thanks to the longitudinal access, presents a smaller internal intrusion and simplifies a lot the handling of the dinghy, especially at anchor.
The main bulkheads are in composite and as provided by the exclusive Solaris building technique, they are resinbonded to hull and above all to deck and not only glued with silicone. The entire boat is built in composite sandwich, the internal frames and girders are vacuum infused, no structural liners are adopted. Great attention has been paid to the position of the steering wheels, a strong trend for the Solaris range that started in the early 2000s with “Amor”. Lastly, the reverse bow, that has been designed and built also to accommodate a bowsprit that allows you to fly a Code 0 or gennaker.
OBSERVATIONS
The new Solaris 60 is a boat for authentic enthusiast sailors: for those who want to go further the comfort of cruising and want to enjoy the pleasure of a fast and comfortable sailing. For those who recognise in both technical and design details, all the experience of someone who, like Solaris has done for more than 40 years, builds solid, seaworthy, functional and safe boats.
