Nautor Swan’s latest addition to its maxi yacht fleet, the all-new Swan 80 sailing yacht, is scheduled to make its world premiere at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival, marking a significant milestone for the Finnish shipyard. The 24-meter performance cruiser features collaborative design work by naval architect Germán Frers, exterior designer Lucio Micheletti, and interior designer Misa Poggi.
Design and Exterior
The overall concept developed by Germán Frers incorporates a high-rigidity, foam-cored, glass-fiber reinforced epoxy hull with unidirectional carbon-fiber reinforcements for maximum structural integrity without compromising weight. Beneath the waterline, the yacht features twin rudders for enhanced control, a tapered entrance, and a widened aft section engineered for directional stability and balance across varying heel angles in both offshore racing and long-distance cruising conditions.
Lucio Micheletti’s exterior layout centers on a functional, uncluttered deck design and a low-profile, near-flush coachroof aft of the mast that maintains a clean silhouette. Wood-covered cockpit coamings extend further aft to increase crew ergonomics and comfort during extended voyages. The flat aft cockpit section permits customizable seating, sunbathing, or storage configurations for cruising, all of which can be fully detached when converting to a streamlined racing mode. Additionally, the open aft deck connects directly to a fold-down beach area, swim platform, and a full-beam lazarette designed to accommodate a rigid inflatable boat alongside water sports equipment.
Interior Layout and Materials
Misa Poggi’s interior concept focuses on modularity and natural material choices, combining light durmast wood, linen, cotton, and leather in neutral white, brown, and putty shades to maximize natural light and create a calm Mediterranean ambiance.
The internal layout offers several modular options depending on owner specifications, bridging the gap between custom yachts and series production. Accommodation layouts can include a spacious forward owner’s suite along with up to four guest and VIP cabins, each equipped with en-suite facilities. Dedicated crew quarters are situated aft with independent access to the cockpit, engine room, and technical spaces to ensure guest privacy and smooth operational workflows. Crew capacity ranges from two to five depending on whether a guest cabin is converted for additional staff. Alternatively, owners can opt to replace one guest cabin to expand the main saloon, creating additional space for a media room or larger dining area tailored for extended onboard entertaining.
