Van der Valk Shipyard will present the 34-metre MY Maravi at the Cannes Yachting Festival this September, held across the Vieux Port and Port Canto sites in the Bay of Cannes. We build for owners who are not prepared to settle for an off-the-shelf product, and Maravi is what that looks like at 34 metres: a full custom yacht drawn around owners who have spent decades on the water and know exactly how they want to live aboard.
Design, Craft and Character
MY Maravi brings together the ideas of her owners, the exterior design of Guido de Groot and the interior of Carla Guilhem, built on the proven hull design of MY Lady Lene. She is a full-displacement superyacht, with twin Volvo Penta continuous duty engines delivering 750 hp each and a top speed of 14.4 knots. The engineering underneath is proven; everything above the waterline was drawn fresh for this family.
Four Decks Built for Company
Each of her four decks answers a specific need. A fold-out platform aft opens the yacht to the water, while the lazarette holds water toys and gym equipment and works as a relaxation area in its own right. Maravi is arranged throughout for entertaining larger groups in style, on a yacht that carries considerable volume for her length.
Custom Focus
Van der Valk is a family-run Dutch yard, building in Waalwijk since 1967 and working fully custom in the 25 to 45 metre band. Where a proven hull suits the brief, it carries the engineering and frees the owner to draw everything else from a blank sheet, as on MY Maravi. Where the brief asks for more, the naval architecture is developed from scratch, as on the 48-metre Project ZEN with her Hull Vane and transpacific range of over 4,400 nm. Around 100 people cover nearly every build discipline in-house: metalwork, carpentry, engineering, painting and interiors, with only upholstery, glazing, stainless steel elements and larger steel hulls going outside. Owners stay involved from the first conversation, through the conceptual design phase, to sea trials and delivery.
