Quarken Boats is proud to introduce a superior new boat brand from Finland. First on the market is the 27 feet range that includes three distinctive and stylish models, the Open version that will offer bestinclass openair thrills and a T-Top with a solid GRP roof for shade and weather protec tion for those memorable summer days on the water. An allweather 27 Cabin commuter will be launched later.
Quarken boats draw inspiration from nature and the es sence of the fleet lies in its beautiful simplicity and clean stateoftheart Nordic design. The range is influenced by the key characteristics of the acclaimed Nordic style. Sleek lines and shapes, functional solutions, sophisti cated details, and timeless finish combined with a fresh Scandinavian color palefte.
Quarken is the English name of the word Kvarken, which is the northernmost arm of the Baltic Sea, also referred to as The Gulf of Bothnia. Quarken’s hometown is Kokkola, Finland, an area known for its long boatbuilding tradition. The boats are developed and tested in the rugged, harsh, and changing conditions of Kvarken.
Key characteristics and features
All boats in the range have a twin-stepped hull with a low planning threshold. Superior and dynamic performance guarantees best-in-class handling, safety, and seaworthiness even in the most rugged conditions. The boat’s weight distribution is perfectly matched to the premium Yamaha outboard range.
The hull is agile, responsive, and offers great grip in turns and matched with Yamaha’s new 300hp V6 outboard engine, the 27’s deliver a comfortable and stable ride combined with great fuel economy. The speed range area for the range is 43 - 45 knots. Fuel consumption in cruising speed is under 1,5 ltr / nautical mile.
The boats have a clean and recognizable silhouefte. The design seamlessly combines innovative solutions and modularity for best-in-class functionality and practical living onboard. The standard layout includes an open transom, customiza- ble deck space, and a safe port-side walkway that connects the bow and aft deck areas. Each boat can be equipped to suit a wide variety of needs and requirements.
‘The customer can select from a broad selection of options and then the set-up of the deck fiftings from an open style day boat to a long-distance cruiser, plus seating choices, dining configurations, water sports or fishing features.
The clean and modern helm console offers excellent all-around visibility and is designed to perfectly in- corporate the latest Steer by Wire throftles and mul- ti-function displays in the most ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing way, offering a fascinating driver environment.
Below deck is a forward cabin, that is accessible from the helm console, with a large bed that accommodates comfortably two persons. The optional Weekend pack- age includes among others an electrical toilet, fresh- water, shore power and transom shower, the perfect choice for those who want to enhance their stay on- board and comfortably explore longer distances.
Additional packages with ready thought-out option combinations include the Convenience Package, Pre- mium Package, and Mooring Package. The 27 range is just the beginning - the fleet will be ex- tended later to larger siblings, with different deck and layout alternatives.
The 27 T-Top offers the perfect blend of thrilling perfor- mance, sun protection, and comfort to enjoy life on the water with family and friends.

To be able to enjoy the best of day boating a subtle balance between open space and socializing areas in the layout is a must. The large open cockpit with the standard aft sofa can be customized to suit a wide variety of needs. It is convert- ible to a port-side L-sofa and with a sunbed extension, the aft can be turned into a sun lounge area. Dining configura- tions are available for both aft and bow seating areas. The bow also benefits from a standard bench that converts into a sunlounge area.
The 27 Open is at its best when out day boating. A perfect choice for water sports and other leisure activities out on the sea, lounging anchored in a favourite spot, and a fast and sporty boat to take you safely to your next favoured position. The forward cabin with the two-person berth opens the pos- sibility to stay overnight, chill out from the sun with a good book or for the kids as a place to hang out. The forward cab- in has a large hatch that makes it easy to load cargo and let’s air flow into the cabin.
Team Behind Quarken
The company was recently formed by a team of highly experienced boat builders with decades of experience in boat building, all having a deep understanding of what customers want and how to deliver superb levels of functionality and usability in the unique craft.
Osmo Roukala, one of the founding partners, has over 40 years of experience in the boat- ing industry and boat design. He has designed and manufactured boats such as Finnmaster, Husky, and Grandezza, which have garnered numerous international awards and accolades.
“As new ideas and experience met, we decided to create a cufting edge fleet that would speak to seafarers around the world. My passion has always been life on the sea and I have spent my entire life building and designing boats. During the last 30 years, I have met so many boat- ers around the world with whom I have exchanged ideas about what is required in terms of functionality, usability, performance, now I wanted to make all my knowledge available for the design of Quarken.
Amongst the co-founding partners are also CEO, Antero Sundberg, who has extensive expe- rience in the areas of management, sales, and network building within the boating industry. He has previously worked with several well-known brands, such as Yamaha, Yamarin, Finnmas- ter, Grandezza, and Saxdor. Mr. Sundberg explained why they chose Yamaha to power their boats, “We have similar thinking and spirit to Yamaha in that we both deliver what we prom- ise in the most customer-focused way possible. We know that Yamaha has the best possible dealer network and servicing wherever you are, and this is key to our customers because of the long-range and adventurous nature of the vessels.”
The third partner Jussi Hurskainen, also the owner of Idis Design Ltd, is an experienced spe- cialist in industrial and strategic design. He has been focusing on private and public transpor- tation sectors for past two decades, including the field of marine industry. Mr. Hurskainen has led numerous product development projects ranging from designing consumer products to undertaking large-scale public commissions.
The design and engineering is lead by Osmo Roukala, who works together with a talented team of industry professionals from Idis Design Ltd and R2 Marine Ltd.
