Based upon its expanding operations and an increased demand for larger hulls and constructions, Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw recently acquired Jachtwerf Bloemsma Makkum (part of Bloemsma Van Breemen Shipyard).

The production halls of Jachtwerf Bloemsma Makkum are located a stone’s throw from the facilities of Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw in Makkum. Their size and location offer major prospects for growth for Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw as well as obvious logistical benefits.

The history of this move can be traced back to 1974, the year in which Willem Bloemsma founded Jachtwerf Bloemsma Makkum. Over the years, the yard built 136 steel and aluminium hulls. From the 1990s onwards, its focus switched to building complete yachts. Vessels up to 158 feet in length have been built in its production halls over recent years. Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw started operations in 1993.

Freddie Bloemsma focused on the constructionof high-grade aluminium hulls for sailing yachts and superstructure parts for motoryachts in the superyacht segment. Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw also developed as a manufacturer of classic yachts, including for the legendary J-class: four of the new generation of Js have a Bloemsma hull. A total of eighty projects have been realised under the name Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw.
