Milan Kundera once wrote “Speed is the form of ecstasy the technical revolution has bestowed on man”. Time, in the sense of distance covered and its relation to technology, has been a constant presence in Fiart’s craft since its debut with Conchita, which was also Europe’s first fibreglass build. Speed as a consequence of technology is a theorem the Campania yard has always applied. That said, raw, unfettered performance has never been its aim. Fiart insists on a sophisticated mix of both blistering performance and superb comfort. The result? Utterly enjoyable yachts that guarantee a superior onboard lifestyle even when the engines are at full throttle and adrenaline is the order of the day.
Time also takes centre stage as the ultimate arbiter of style, architectural traits, forms. It is time and time alone that will tell if a yacht, for instance, can retain its allure unaltered with the passing of the years. Creating something genuinely timeless is a challenge for any designer, but one that the New Fiart 52 wholeheartedly and convincingly embraces.
It is, in fact, a Mediterranean motoryacht that stems from a concept itself the structured product of yard’s experience, the technological expertise that is its heritage, and forms that brilliantly reflect the aesthetic of its new design direction. That said, the New Fiart 52 also delivers absolutely new features that make it deliberately and successfully future-forward craft. Sweeping dynamism (as seen in its reverse sheer, sculpted flanks and the rake of the windshield as it melds with the hard top) is the leitmotif for its exterior design.
It also imbues the 52’ with a very personal style that is unequivocally of the Fiart bloodline. But this is also a craft never falls into the trap of overusing classic styling cues or indulging in complicated formal gymnastics. It is quite simply a sublimely elegant sporty Grand Tourer of the sea. Generally speaking, the New Fiart 52 exudes a pleasing kind of elegance. A sense of luxury that is never ostentatious. Instead it is suggested by meticulous attention to detail and superior quality. In terms of the interiors, we tried ensure that our choices reflected that kind of mood.
The words of Francesco Guida, the brain behind the furnishings and décor of this and Fiart’s other motoryachts. A designer with a flair for combining impeccable visual taste and flair with a sensitivity to the demands of life aboard, regardless of the type of craft he is called into work on.
With that goal in mind - Guida continues –we decided, both by inclination and conviction, to reflect current international design trends. This led to simple but never spartan décor and materials being adopted. Most of all though, we focused on harmony of form and getting proportions just right. The Fiart 52’s ergonomics and functionality were very carefully researched because they are essential components of modern and contemporary interiors. There’s no doubt that they alone can communicate a sense of wellbeing and pleasantness. This type of approach also has the advantage of making it easy for clients to imagine customisations and enhancements they might want to make, even by changing a single textile. That, in turn, instantly creates a sense of flexibility and versatility. We are absolutely convinced that regardless of their personal tastes or where they are from, anyone that comes aboard the New Fiart 52 will be pleasantly surprised to find themselves in contemporary, functional spaces with the same ambience as the kind of hotels, restaurants and residences they are accustomed to.
The interiors of any boat are a compendium of many details, large and small, but light plays a crucial role in accentuating the designer’s work, underscoring individual features and enhancing sensations, by defining space itself, the visual and artistic essence of architectural endeavour. How was it used aboard?
Lighting plays a central role aboard. When cleverly planned, it can be used to great and very positive effect: aboard this particular yacht, the spaces feel noticeably larger because of our decision to light the perimeters and the areas above the mirrors. A sense of depth has been created by backlighting the panelling to highlight the way its outer layer stands proud and thus its three-dimensionality. We recessed strip lights in the ceilings too to underscore the overall dimensions of the cabins.
All of this clearly demonstrates thats light plays a very active role in the New Fiart 52, enriching and providing a finishing touch to the décor which has been kept deliberately simple and, a result, elegant.
Clever combinations of materials, colours, finishes, etc. can also really lend incredible texture to architectural objects. And that’s what we’ve done by creating an interplay of contrasts aboard. The decision to use a light neutral colour palette came instantly and naturally to us and is something we’re very confident about too. Various shades of white and grey are used to create bright interiors yet a balance has been struck to ensure the result is never harsh. Why? Because boats are used in hot weather and so to create a feel-good ambience, the interiors need to be cool and bright with no startling contrasts.
Measured use has been made too of glossy white lacquer paintwork on clearly-defined surfaces. It stands out attractively against the neutral grey base, producing a delicate but seductive sense of luxury. The combination of the geometries of these very boldly cut surfaces and the colour tones allow the interiors feel like an effortless continuation and a harmonious completion of the exteriors.
