The German shipyard YYachts will present the new Y7 to the public for the first time. The world premiere will take place at the Palma International Boat Show from April 29 to May 2, 2026.
With the new Y7, YYachts continues the successful development of its product line. The previous model, with more than 20 units sold, has established itself as a leader in its segment. Building on this success, the new Y7 has been completely reimagined and further developed both technically and in terms of design. The development team at YYachts, led by Luca Giammattei and Francesca Modica, has selected judel/vrolijk & co as the naval architect for this ambitious project, combining their expertise and vision in the creation of the new yacht.
At the core of the new development is an entirely new hull with modern hydrodynamics, designed to meet the latest requirements of recent years. This results in improved stability and optimized sailing performance, particularly in moderate wind conditions. The concept is complemented by a mast positioned further aft, increasing sail efficiency and overall performance.
The deck layout has also been fundamentally redesigned. An asymmetric entrance, always ensures unobstructed movement through the cockpit. The enlarged cockpit offers increased comfort and safety, while newly positioned winches allow for particularly easy and intuitive handling. The cockpit now features a U-shaped sofa on the starboard side for greater comfort. The yacht is consistently designed for simple and safe sailing and can be efficiently operated with a small crew.
Inside, the new Y7 offers significantly increased volume and a high degree of customization. Owners can choose between a new luxurious VIP guest cabin — a feature not available before — or a generous crew area with crew mess, offering more flexibility based on use case and crew needs. The interior concept is complemented by a separate utility area, providing space for a washing machine and additional equipment. Another key advancement is the dedicated engine room, which not only reduces noise levels but also allows for a cleaner and more elegant exterior profile. The engine room has been moved from beneath the saloon floor to a dedicated technical space with dual access, including direct entry from the crew area.
Michael Schmidt, founder of YYachts, commented: “The challenge was to make a great boat even better — and that meant questioning every detail. With the new Y7, we have taken everything that defined its predecessor’s success and elevated it to a new level, both technically and in terms of design and usability. The strong market response we are already seeing, with four units sold, confirms that this concept resonates with our clients, and we are confident that the new Y7 will be successfully integrated into our fleet.” With the new Y7, YYachts reinforces its commitment to developing high-performance, user-friendly, and fully customizable sailing yachts in the premium segment.
