With the world premiere of the new BAVARIA C46, BAVARIA YACHTS starts the new boat show season at the Yachting Festival in Cannes.
The new BAVARIA C46 develops, interprets and expands the design concept of the German shipyard’s very successful C-LINE. With the unique combination of generous space, excellent sailing characteristics and innovative solutions, the new BAVARIA C46 aims to once again redefine the standards in its category.
The generous space on board and the proven Made in Germany solidity are combined with further improved sailing performance and an even greater feel-good factor on board. These achievements are made possible by the pronounced chines and the V-bow, which already achieved excellent sailing characteristics in the previous development of the BAVARIA C38 and C42 and creates incomparable space in the cabins. With the new rig-sail concept of the BAVARIA C46, the pure joy of sailing is further optimized, whether single-handed or with a sporty crew – because the versatile BAVARIA C46 also offers convincing solutions for every requirement when it comes to deck layout. At the same time, the BAVARIA C46 is an elegant and chic yacht that is already delighting its soon-to-be owners. The nomination of the BAVARIA C46 for Europe’s Yacht of the Year by the international jury of the European Yacht of the Year Award is further confirmation of this new, all-round successful concept.
The BAVARIA C46 is designed to offer a unique experience and fun, comfort and safety on board. Whatever the preferred way of sailing, the C46 proves to be the ideal companion to discover the pleasure of sailing in all its nuances. Building on the extensive experience of the past decades, the C46 offers a wide range of additional configurations, allowing maximum customization of the sailing experience to individual needs and preferences.
The BAVARIA C46 sets new standards in the combination of interior design, excellent sailing characteristics and innovative solutions. Like all models in the C-LINE, the BAVARIA C46 was created in cooperation between the BAVARIA development team and Cossutti Yacht Design. Based on the experience of the last successful developments, the new C46 has distinctive chines and the famous BAVARIA V-Bow, which give the C46 a very agile and at the same time extremely stable sailing behaviour. Whether relaxed sailing with a small crew, single-handed sailing or trips with a large crew and sporting ambitions – the BAVARIA C46 offers all the necessary options for maximum sailing pleasure with six optional winch positions, plenty of sail area upwind and further options for gennaker and Code0.
Even under the mainsail and self-tacking jib, the BAVARIA C46 has a sail area of 115 square meters upwind, the reason is the new rig-sail concept with larger headsails. The larger 56 square meter genoa, which can be sheeted at a narrow angle via the genoa rails on the housing, ensures greater speed and optimized turning angles and thus offers maximum height upwind. Gennaker, Code0 or the newly developed Permanent Code0 ensure an optimized sail plan in the most varied of wind conditions. Permanent Code0 because this headsail can stay permanently on the bowsprit like a second, additional headsail and does not have to be taken down after every downhaul course or even day trip. This makes a Code0 as easy to use as a genoa was previously.
All halyards and trim lines are led to the two central winches at the helm. The main sheet and the sheet of the self-tacking jib are also operated by the central winches and are therefore always under the control of the skipper.
In addition to the conventional sports and furling mast with manual winches for active sailing, an electric furling system for the mainsail and electric winches for trimming the headsails are now optionally available for the first time. On request, powerful lithium batteries provide the necessary energy for the trimming system and other consumers on board the BAVARIA C46, also in combination with removable solar panels on the bimini to generate additional electricity.
The BAVARIA C46 offers two options for trimming the Gennaker and Code0. If you sail a lot alone or with a small crew, you can choose two more winches at the helm station in addition to the central winches. The sheet of the larger genoa can also be led directly aft through the halyard tunnel and trimmed to be easily accessible to the helmsman.
If the BAVARIA C46 is sailed by a larger, active crew, then the two additional winches on the cockpit coaming are exactly the right choice. Genoa, gennaker and Code0 are easily operated by the crew and give the skipper plenty of space behind the newly developed helm stand, which also ensures access to the most relevant information at all times from the coaming.
With the three additional B&G displays above the companionway, important data such as boat speed, wind strength, wind direction, course and depth can optionally be accessed by the entire crew at any time.
With the BAVARIA C46, the BAVARIA development team has created an impressive amount of space and comfort in the salon and cabins. In addition to an attractive design and high quality of construction, the clear goal during development was to create a spacious and communicative salon for the owner and crew while at the same time offering maximum privacy in the comfortable cabins. Therefore, the C46 offers a wide range of configurations that allow maximum customization of the yacht and the sailing experience to individual needs and preferences.
The salon is the perfect place for spending wonderful times together with family and friends on board the BAVARIA C46. In the slightly raised BAVARIA on-board office, with a navigation table and important nautical equipment, you are at eye level with the crew in the galley. This makes working on the navigation system or even cooking a shared experience. Meals are served at the large salon table with a U-shaped sofa, which can quickly be transformed into a large lying area at the touch of a button using the optional lowerable salon table.
To ensure the right light in the salon, BAVARIA YACHTS combines tried-and-tested yacht building with modern concepts. New skylights, large hatches and hull windows not only ensure daylight and ventilation in the salon during the day, but also a very good view of the sails, whether from the on-board office or from the salon table. In the evening, the energy-saving, linear designer lights in the deck panels always provide in the right light for the salon.
The available layouts range from 3 to 5 cabins and offer new possibilities to meet individual needs on board through multi-purpose rooms. For example, the owner can choose a configuration with 4 cabins, each with its own bathroom, this layout offers optimal privacy and comfort to all guests on board. Alternatively, a 3-cabin layout with an extremely spacious owner’s cabin and an additional, separate multi-purpose cabin on the companionway can be chosen. This can then be used as tool storage, a place for wet oilskins or directly accessible storage space.
The ample room and feeling of space are absolutely impressive, and not just in the salon. In the standard version with three cabins, all berths on board have a width of at least 1.60 meters over the full length of all beds, with a total length of over two meters each – an almost impossibly generous solution in this segment. The very voluminous and almost four-meter-long owner’s cabin in the bow offers impressive light and space and, in addition to its own bathroom and its own separate shower, also offers space for an additional cupboard on the main bulkhead and an on-board library in the salon.
Many other options allow you to adapt the layout and equipment below deck to your individual preferences. For a lot of space there is the possibility of a multi-purpose room on starboard and portside, for example if more storage space or space for a washing machine is desired. Four cabin layouts can be realized in the classic way with a divided cabin in the bow, here the berths are over 2 meters long and each a proud 1.50 meters x 0.80 meters wide, or if you understandably don’t want to do without the unique owner’s cabin in the front, by means of an additional fourth cabin with double bunk beds instead of the head on the starboard side.
This freedom of choice allows boat owners to create the space on board that best suits their individual needs. There are very different requirements and preferences, so the C46 offers a wide range of optimized solutions. Whether generous spaces or practical solutions on board – the BAVARIA C46 is designed in such a way that it can be adapted to every situation and offers passionate sailors unique experiences. Design thought through down to the smallest detail – Made in Germany.
After the world premiere at the Yachting Festival in Cannes from September 12th to 17th, the BAVARIA C46 can also be discovered at the Southampton Boat Show from September 18th to 24th, at Salone Nautico in Genoa from September 21st to 26th and at the Barcelona Boat Show from October 12th to 15th.
