Winds, Waves, and Winning Moments in the Aegean Regatta

The yachts participating in the international sailing event Aegean Regatta, organized by the General Secretariat for the Aegean & Island Policy of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Island Policy in cooperation with the Offshore Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Federation, arrived in Mytilene on Friday afternoon.

With the completion of the 4th race from Plomari to Mytilene, the battle for first place in each category has grown fiercer, and everything will be decided in the final coastal leg of Mytilene.

The wind did not help the crews, forcing them to use all their skills in order to reach the capital of Lesvos. Invictus – Katopsis Construction was the first to cross the finish line, while most yachts needed several hours to cover the 20-nautical mile route.

AEGEAN REGATTA 2025 – Day 6 Highlights
During the awards ceremony for the winners of the 4th race, the General Secretary for the Aegean & Island Policy, Emmanouil Koutoulakis, stated:

“Tonight, we returned home carrying wonderful memories and building strong friendships. We are happy to be back at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs building in Mytilene, where many decisions for our islands are made. What our crews have experienced, and what we are experiencing here, is that Lesvos is now on a different way in terms of tourism and organization. This regatta offers both joy and experiences to places that truly need them, and for that reason, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you, on behalf of the local communities, to all of you sailors and to the Organizing Committee for the way you have embraced these places.”

The Aegean Regatta 2025 is organized by the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Island Policy, in cooperation with the Offshore Racing Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Federation and the clubs: ASIATH Rhodes, LOIATH Mytilene, Nautical Club of Samos, Nautical Club of Chios, PEKEV Chios, with the 2025 coordinating club being the Nautical Club of Mytilene.
