Vripack Yacht Design’s interior for its latest 60m superyacht Serenity, built by Alia Yachts, is a lesson in majestic contrasts.
It’s both opulent and reserved, inviting and stately, with a refined tone that seamlessly integrates across four decks. Using myriad materials, surfaces and hues to strike a unique balance between texture and detail, the show-stopping design is a treat for the senses, from the polished Italian marble flooring in the main salon to the sumptuous leather ceiling that cocoons the upper deck family cinema.
Unifying formal sophistication with relaxed lived-in elegance is no small feat, yet Serenity achieved it with ease. The brief called for a warm and sumptuous multigenerational retreat where the family could reconnect after long days on the water. Vripack responded with a high-gloss, high tactile environment, in which rich surfaces and sculpted details pull together in one cosy, cohesive vision.
The guest hallway leading to the owner’s suite is a true mille-feuille of craftsmanship: layers of leather, glossy rosewood, marble inlay and custom lighting converge with dramatic effect. In the multifunctional sky lounge cinema, subtle Middle Eastern motifs echo gently across the embossed leather ceiling. Slanted ceiling panels direct soft lighting onto bottle green velvet sofas, while an undulating sustainably-sourced teak floor brings barefoot luxury. Even the cabinet handles carry their own artistry, inlaid with precious stone, marble and leather.
“I dreamed of a place where I can be together with my family in comfort, seclusion and style. Serenity, with its free-flowing design and light-filled interior, promises to be that place, a beautiful home on the water,” says the owner.
In the main salon, Calacatta marble flooring is framed by mystic brown marble borders. Carved rosewood cabinets wrapped in leather stand between floor-length mirrors. Each near-full-height panoramic window features sand-blasted Arabic patterns, their geometry mirrored in the high-gloss milled-front of a blue cabinet that ripples like water.
“Having partnered with the owner for nearly two decades, SF Yachts has long been entrusted with turning vision into reality. For Serenity, we brought together the exceptional team of Vripack and Alia Yachts in our second joint collaboration. Sharing the owner’s commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and family-centred design, the result merges technical mastery with a warm, private sanctuary for generations,” says Francesco Pitea, CEO at SF Yachts.
“Serenity is a true testament to our expertise in crafting intricate, luxurious, and custom yacht interiors,” says Aykut Berhan, interior manager at Alia Yachts.
“There’s a warmth to Serenity’s interior design that welcomes you and makes you feel at home. The skilled mix of materials, such as wood, leather, marble, and steel truly create a masterpiece. In close collaboration with Vripack, our in-house interiors atelier is delivering bespoke solutions that seamlessly blend beauty and functionality to create a space that is both formal and relaxing. This project showcases the strength of teamwork and precision, ensuring the final result reflects the highest
Honouring the owner’s request for a bold, inspiring palette, each dayhead and guest bathroom embraces its own signature colour. Marble basins pair with Foglizzo leather-wrapped vanities, complete with stitched details and stainless steel inlay. In the six guest cabins, artisanal patterned carpets – each requiring eight months to produce – anchor the space.
One of the yacht’s most striking interior features is the multilayered floor surrounding the central elevator: 3D milled glass overlaid with sand-blasted glass to form a delicate flower motif. Even the stainless steel end cap of the spiral-stair handrail is hammered by hand.
Completing the composition is Vripack’s signature transitional lighting scheme. By day, natural light cascades through the yacht’s full-height windows. By evening, the atmosphere softens with a bespoke chandelier above the dining table and a twinkling LED ceiling in the sky lounge.
“Serenity is one of our most dazzling interiors yet,” says Bart Bouwhuis, co-creative director at Vripack.
