The companies that manage the pleasure boat moorings in the historic centre of Venice will be at the show with the Venice Superyacht Destination brand to promote an integrated offer of services for luxury yachting.
The Boot Dusseldorf boat show – the primary international showcase for pleasure boating of all kinds – is the scene of the first co-marketing initiative of the companies that manage the pleasure boat moorings in the historic centre of Venice: Venice Yacht Pier, Venezia Certosa Marina and Marina Santelena. The initiative, established a few months ago, launches with a stand at the show informing shipowners and captains about the provision of services in the lagoon city, setting out the three different mooring possibilities in the unique setting of Venice’s historic centre.
The Venice brand has a strong appeal for tourism in general, but is not yet fully established in the nautical field in spite of the history of ‘La Serenissima’, as Venice is known. This is the reason that led Venice Yacht Pier, Venezia Certosa Marina and Marina Santelena to present themselves together as Venice Superyacht Destination, which aims to outline the integrated proposal of the three city enterprises, both in terms of mooring, located in various strategic points in the city, and high quality services.
This is a courageous initiative that has won the support of the municipal authorities under the guidance of Mayor Luigi Brugnaro who is at the press conference today to support the initiative, aimed at promoting quality tourism, and present the new edition of the Venice Boat Show taking place from June 18 to 23 2019 at the Arsenale, a place that has characterized the naval history of Venice, with the aim of developing a strategic sector for the entire metropolitan city of Venice. The initiative builds on the success of several nautical events hosted in Venice and specifically at the Arsenal, including the 50th anniversary of the Ferretti Group last June.
Venice Superyacht Destination and the new 2019 edition of the Venice Boat Show: two complementary messages aimed at reviving the ancient nautical tradition of ‘La Serenissima’, restoring it as the centre of its productive life, because Venice is synonymous with the culture of the sea and it was on the economy of the sea that it created its historic success.
As a natural setting for pleasure boating, Venice is an ideal destination for the superyacht market over 30 metres. Easily accessible at any time of the year thanks to the over 100 air connections with the whole of Europe, the US and the Middle and Far East guaranteed by Venice Marco Polo International Airport, the third largest Italian airport hub with an efficient general aviation service for private flights, as well as Venice-Lido Nicelli Airport, and also Venice Santa Lucia railway station, one of the largest in Italy.
There is no shortage of glamorous and cultural events that draw large crowds including the Art Biennale, Architecture Biennale and International Film Festival, the operatic calendar of the grand La Fenice theatre, as well as major exhibitions hosted by museums and cultural institutions famous throughout the world and thousand-year old traditional Venetian events such as the Carnival, Historic Regatta, Festa della Sensa, Festa di San Marco and Festa del Rendentore.
In addition to the incomparable atmosphere of the majestic city, Venice offers an inestimable natural heritage and the unparalleled scenery of its vast lagoon.
Finally, there are premium restaurants led by star chefs, a magnificent, historic golf club and a vast range of destinations within easy reach such as the Dolomites, Verona and the operatic events in its Arena, the experiences offered by the thermal spa resorts of Abano and Montegrotto, and much more besides.
“The idea of a combined stand of the major Venetian companies in superyacht hospitality originated from talks at the ICOMIA World Conference in Athens with the managing director of the Dusseldorf trade show, and the journey between concept and implementation was short thanks to the enthusiasm shown by the partners of Venice Yacht Pier and Marina Sant’Elena. The slogan Venice Superyacht Destination was created with the aim of informing shipowners and captains about mooring services for pleasure boats, outlining the service offered by the city in a single combined platform and promoting the high quality tourism that characterizes luxury yachting and related activities. Taking part in the Boot at the Superyacht Pavilion is only the first step of a territorial marketing project that aims to promote the presence of superyachts in Venice, not only during the glamorous events in the city but throughout the year.
The union of operators enables the quality of the offer to be developed, visitor information to be implemented with a complete and transparent description of the current regulations, a wider market to be reached, collaboration with the institutions in the administrative management of the activities and together development opportunities can be met such as the new Venice Boat Show at the Arsenale”, said Alberto Sonino, Sole Administrator of VdV Srl, the company that manages Venezia Certosa Marina, “When the opportunity to present ourselves with the other two marinas in the historic centre Venezia Certosa Marina and Marina Santelena in an international trade fair such as the Dusseldorf Boot was proposed to us, we immediately and enthusiastically accepted. We are certain that the synergies we can create with the Venice Superyacht Destination brand can guarantee great development for the superyacht market in Venice and the support of the Venice authorities for the initiative, in addition to the new edition of the Venice Boat Show in June falling entirely within a single scheme for the revival of luxury yachts in Venice”, said Galliano Di Marco, chairman of Venice Yacht Pier Srl.
“The superyacht market represents high quality tourism with strong spending power, a target that is completely in line with the goal of the municipal authorities to raise the level of the city’s tourism. With the Venice Superyacht Destination initiative, the marinas of the Venetian historic centre present a united front for the first time to communicate that our three companies are able to host any type of vessel, guaranteeing a high standard of services,” concluded Stefano Costantini, chairman of Marina Santelena.
