Theodoros Fotiadis unveils August, a Mediterranean-inspired 87-meter hybrid superyacht concept, marking the second major project for Germany’s new Astra Nord shipyard.
Greek designer Theodoros Fotiadis has officially introduced August, an 87-meter motor yacht concept that marks the second of five ambitious projects currently in development for the emerging German shipyard Astra Nord. Drawing deep inspiration from the serene and inviting atmosphere of a Mediterranean summer, the vessel is characterized by sleek, confident German exterior lines that define its five-deck silhouette. Fotiadis describes the yacht not merely as a boat but as an emotional experience designed to evoke the quiet confidence and relaxation associated with its namesake month. This philosophy is physically realized through an open aft architecture that fosters a seamless connection between the interior and the natural environment across every level.
Outdoor Living and Amenities
Life on board is intentionally oriented toward the outdoors, featuring a comprehensive waterfront beach club equipped with a spa, gym, and social lounging areas. The main aft deck serves as a focal point with its substantial swimming pool and expansive sunpads, while a discreetly sunken sofa area is positioned behind the foredeck helipad. To support an active lifestyle at sea, the yacht includes vast storage for a diverse collection of tenders and toys, such as an 11-meter limousine tender, jet skis, and specialized diving gear.
Inside, the aesthetic shifts toward a sun-washed palette of warm sand and muted cream, accented by soft textures and blue tones that mimic the movement of the ocean. Floor-to-ceiling glazing ensures that each cabin remains bathed in natural light, providing luxurious accommodation for 14 guests across seven cabins, including a massive full-beam owner’s suite, while separate quarters house a crew of 28.
Technical Performance
Technically, the 2,750GT vessel is engineered with a robust steel and aluminum hull and powered by a modern diesel-electric hybrid system. It is expected to achieve a top speed of 18 knots and maintains an impressive transatlantic range of up to 6,000 nautical miles at cruising speeds.
This reveal follows the successful launch of the Astra Nord shipyard in Northern Germany, a facility capable of managing massive new-build projects and refits for vessels up to 295 meters.
Positioned to fill the market niche previously occupied by Nobiskrug, the August joins the earlier 78-meter Neon concept as part of a series defined by advanced engineering and high-end material selection, signaling a new era of large-scale yacht construction for the firm.
