Targa 37 will make its official premiere this autumn

The new Targa 37 debuts this autumn, combining a 44-knot top speed with rugged Finnish engineering for ultimate offshore cruising.

Finnish shipyard Botnia Marin has confirmed that the latest iteration of the Targa 37 will make its official premiere this autumn. Positioned as a core model in the manufacturer’s lineup, the Targa 37 continues the brand’s “4×4 of the Sea” heritage, focusing on offshore performance and multi-seasonal utility. The upcoming version maintains the established design language of the series while introducing refined standard equipment and updated technical specifications for the premium commuting and cruising segment.

Dimensions and structural integrity

Measuring an overall length (L.O.A) of 12.55 meters (41.2′) with a hull length of 11.42 meters (37.5′), the Targa 37 strikes the perfect balance between agile handling and spacious living. The beam of 3.75 meters (12.3′) provides a stable platform, while the 1.10-meter (3.6′) draught ensures access to shallower bays without sacrificing blue-water performance. What truly sets this vessel apart is its hidden construction. The hull sides, stringers, and under-berth sections are injected with high-density urethane foam. This technique does more than just ensure buoyancy; it creates a remarkably stiff hull and provides world-class sound insulation, making the cabin a quiet sanctuary even when the twin engines are at full throttle.

Power, speed, and range

The heart of the Targa 37 lies in its versatile engine room. Owners can tailor the performance to their specific needs with a wide range of Volvo Penta D6 configurations. The options begin at 2 × 340 HP (680 HP total) and scale up to the formidable 2 × 480 HP (960 HP total). With the top-tier 960 HP setup, the Targa 37 reaches an exhilarating top speed of 44 knots, while it comfortably maintains a cruising speed between 30 and 36 knots. To support long-range expeditions, the vessel is equipped with a massive 1350 L fuel tank, complemented by a 250 L water tank and a 150 L holding tank, ensuring self-sufficiency for extended stays at sea.

The standard of excellence: Interior and deck

The standard equipment list is a testament to the Finnish philosophy of “no compromises.” The pilothouse is a model of ergonomic design, featuring a full galley with a sink, gas cooker, and a 230 V microwave. Luxury meets utility with a custom Targa dinner service for six and an 85 L stainless steel refrigerator. Accommodation is split between the fore and aft cabins, both featuring private toilets with electrical seawater flush systems. The aft cabin is particularly luxurious, boasting a dedicated shower with glass doors. Climate control is managed via a defroster/heater system powered by the engine, while three roof hatches with integrated sunshades and mosquito nets provide natural ventilation.

Technical standard features include:

  • Maneuverability: An 80 kg thrust bow thruster with its own backup battery and Interceptor trim tabs for precise leveling.
  • Power Management: A sophisticated electrical suite featuring a 100 A battery charger, a 3000 W inverter, and a shore power system with an isolation transformer. The battery bank is robust, consisting of three 120 Ah GEL service batteries and two 96 Ah AGM start batteries.
  • Safety and Visibility: Three automatic bilge pumps, two manual pumps, and an automatic fire extinguishing system in the engine room. Night navigation is aided by LED floor lights and windscreen wipers with a dedicated wash system.

Bespoke customization: The extra equipment

For the discerning owner, the Targa 37 offers extensive personalization. One can opt for a colored hull or a two-tone deck to stand out in the marina. The warmth of natural wood can be extended with full teak decking and teak-covered seating. Interior comfort can be upgraded with air conditioning, a generator for off-grid power, and even a dishwasher for the ultimate convenience. For the captain, a damped driver’s chair ensures comfort during long passages in heavy seas. External upgrades include an anchor winch for both the bow and transom, a Bimini-top for the 5-person flybridge, and specialized long-range running lights for nocturnal crossings. As we approach the autumn premiere, the Targa 37 stands ready to redefine the premium offshore segment. It is a vessel built for the bold, combining the luxury of a yacht with the soul of a professional interceptor.
