The new flagship of the superyacht fleet will be the largest ever built by the yard.
In a very private ceremony in the presence of the owner, the keel of the first Sanlorenzo 72Steel was laid last Saturday, marking the official recognition of the start of construction of the future flagship of the superyacht fleet.
The 72Steel will be a totally innovative project in respect to the previous one while maintaining Sanlorenzo’s unmistakable style and DNA: an imposing 72-metre long metal yacht, five decks and a volume of 1850 GT, which will be launched in 2025, the second unit of the same line has also been sold.
The international broker house Edmiston, which finalised the sale, will also oversee the project management. The exterior lines and interior design will be addressed by Zuccon International Project and Francesco Paszkowski Design, in a project designed at 360 degrees around the concept of liveability on board, in which the owner’s cabin will have a dedicated deck; the Owner deck, and interiors and exteriors will communicate in an intelligent and functional manner, thanks also to the extensive use of glazing.
The new protagonist of the Sanlorenzo range will be one of the first yachts of the future, being equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric motor system, the result of the shipyard’s ongoing research into real solutions to reduce the environmental impact of its vessels. This system embodies the best green technology on the market today and represents a concentration of innovations that will make it possible to significantly reduce emissions in the atmosphere and at sea while maintaining a high level of comfort on board and by streamlining the spaces dedicated to the engine area in favour of the internal volumes for owners and guests.
At present, there are 22 steel and/or aluminium superyachts from 44 to 73 metres under construction. The Superyacht Division continues to record steady growth and reaffirms its leadership in the metal sector with a fleet of 45 vessels in navigation.
