Royal Huisman is pleased to be able to share a series of splendid photos taken recently of Blue Papillon sailing in the Mediterranean.
Launched in 2013, the 43m / 142ft sloop’s naval architecture is by Germàn Frers, who defined a powerful, easily driven and high performance hull form with a narrow entry forward and an elegant sheer to further balance the low profile deckhouse.
Paying particular attention to the underbody design, Frers further chose a moderate draft fixed bulb keel with short chord length, while the fully balanced carbon fibre spade rudder is controlled by a mechanical steering system to maximise sensitivity and responsiveness under sail.
The Rondal carbon fibre high-aspect sloop rig offers powerful windward performance and low aerodynamic drag, whilst an in boom furling system provides ease of control requiring minimal crew.
Exterior design highlights include no fewer than three cockpits: the extended coach roof provides shade and protection for the main cockpit; the helm stations flank a central cockpit; and an owner’s aft cockpit is equipped with a retractable dodger for extra privacy as well as a large sunbed.
Not visible in the images because the transom door is closed, is the ‘Beach Deck’: a fold-down stern platform and ‘grand’ staircase leading down to it when at anchor.
In addition, details such as recessed pop-cleats with integrated fairleads, a concealed swingover anchor system and margin-free hatches with hidden hinges, provide a deck that is completely free of unnecessary clutter.
A large (4.5m / 15ft) tender is stored in the lazarette. A foredeck locker contains a second rigid inflatable tender.
With her sleek exterior lines and marine blue hull and contrasting metallic silver superstructure, along with a contemporary interior with classic overtones by Rhoades Young Design, Blue Papillon defines the yachting lifestyle with attitude and pace.
Royal Huisman invites you to visit the stand during the coming Boot Düsseldorf (17 – 25 January, stand G19, Hall 7A) to see more photos and a scale model of the yacht, along with many other exciting new projects. We sincerely hope you will find time to visit the show and drop by to see us; rest assured that you will receive a warm Dutch welcome from the Royal Huisman team.
