Azimut Verve 42: Power, design and comfort

In its quest for new navigation experiences defined by excellence, Azimut has always intuitively recognised and pioneered new market segments.

As in the case of Verve, the family of outboards launched in 2020, which after the success of Verve 47 now gives a warm welcome to Verve 42, a new exercise in bold design in an extra compact version.

Background. The driving force behind Azimut’s decision to enter the outboard market is the perception that the US market lacks a niche model: a fast cabin cruiser combining the functionality and speed of centre console fishing boats with the glamour, quality, comfort, looks, and social personality of yachts inspired by Azimut’s Italian DNA.

A winning gamble. The first masterpiece is Azimut Verve 47, born at the intersection between passion and experience. This product marks the creation of a new weekender segment, which for the first time combines the features of two diametrically opposed boats: high-performance American outboards and Italian cabin cruisers. The perfect fusion of these two strands of DNA is ensured by the involvement in the design process of two world-class names: the unrivalled Michael Peters for the hull, and multiple award-winning Francesco Struglia for the exterior and interior design. Presented at the Miami boat show in November 2020, it sold out in just a few hours. But its success continues today and after two years a total of 66 units have been sold.

The Verve 42. Azimut has now distilled this concept into an even more concentrated form, on a more compact model with all the characteristics that made the Verve 47 a best seller. The result is the debut of the Verve 42, a 13-metre weekender that again resets the bar in the category, transforming the liveability of its predecessor to work in a smaller space and radically broadening the demographic of potential customers. The Verve 42 delivers incredible value, positioning itself to appeal to the increasingly sophisticated but flexible appetite for the sea of younger owners, who have given the debut their full backing: bookings have already been received for 33 Verve 42 units and there is a waiting list of about two years for anyone wishing to buy one today.

Characteristics. As on the Verve 47, the Stepped ‘V’ Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) hull designed by Peters reduces water resistance by ensuring smooth, clean entry, without sacrificing excellent performance. The interiors and exteriors by Italian designer Francesco Struglia reveal a design approach that enhances function through emotion. Outside, distinctive lines are complemented by hull windows that go up the gunwale and give the helm station a sense of freedom and harmony with the water. A system of surprising transparent surfaces – an Azimut innovation in the yachting world inspired by Italian sports cars from the 1970s – gives the driver an intimate experience of the bow cutting through the water. The result? An unparalleled visual bond.

The boat’s sporty attitude is balanced by its glamorous, welcoming, and convivial spirit. The spaces may be limited in size but are designed to offer a relaxed and extremely enjoyable experience on board to share with friends and family. The boat can accommodate up to 12-day guests. The outdoor area is a perfect multi-use living space with TV, mini-galley and foldaway table, a lounging area fitted with cushions, and a striking aft side bulwark that folds out in seconds to form a swimming platform. Below deck, the dining area that converts into a double bed and the comfortable double cabin with bathroom allow four guests to decide, even at the last minute, to spend one or more nights on board.

Three outboard engines. With three Mercury outboard engines rated 400 hp or 450 hp, Verve 42 has a top speed up to 45 knots and a cruising speed of 33 knots. This model has more compact engines than its predecessor, while ensuring great freedom of movement and endless leisure opportunities with its range of 200 nautical miles at cruising speed.
