Full speed ahead for the 2017 MYBA Charter Show

The official countdown to the 2017 MYBA Charter Show has begun and this year promises to be an exceptional experience for luxury charter professionals.

It is exactly a month after the opening of online registration and the number of yachts whose registration is in the process of being approved is well over 60. Among the names that have already been confirmed are the impressive 95m M/Y “Indian Empress”, the 70m M/Y “JOY”, and the 38m S/Y “Twilight”.

The yachts will always remain the true stars at the MYBA Charter Show but it is only natural that there is excitement about the new venue, OneOcean Port Vell, and about the destination itself. Barcelona is a cultural hub and a culinary heaven, blessed with months of endless sunshine, and its architectural landscape is constantly evolving. It is a city that invites visitors to explore it and, for those who arrive early, the Show has already negotiated prices for organised tours that range from a visit to La Sagrada Familia to wine tasting at Sitges. The details will soon be available on the Show’s official website, in the existing section with information about transport and booking accommodation.maritu2

The Show is always searching for improvements that will enhance the experience of attendees and this quest has led to some interesting developments. Among them is a competition for interior crew that will make its inaugural appearance at the 2017 Show and will be the delight of budding mixologists. The “MYBA Art in a Glass” Competition will be open to those with exceptional skills in the creation of cocktails and is set to become one of the Show’s highlights, following in the footsteps of the very successful MYBA Superyacht Chefs’ Competition. Now in its 5th consecutive year, the Superyacht Chefs’ Competition, will once again be graced by an impressive lineup of judges. The two Michelin starred chef of Quattro Passi, Antonio Mellino, is returning to the panel where he will be joined by some of Spain’s finest chefs, and together they will face the daunting task of selecting the best of the best. This year competing chefs will have to prepare (i) a first course of seafood that incorporates saffron, (ii) a main course of fish and rice and (iii) a NO sugar dessert, only using natural sugar substitutes such as honey or agave.

A modern and ergonomic reception & hospitality area will be unveiled and it will provide all that is necessary for doing business. Golf buggies and water shuttles will be available in order to facilitate the movement of attendees within the Show area and OneOcean Port Vell’s five star facilities will be at their disposal. The Show bags being produced are eco-friendly and yacht waste will be recycled, in a continuing effort to minimise the footprint that the Show leaves behind it. The Show is indeed moving full speed ahead.

The support of the superyacht industry for the event is very strong and it is already more than evident. The exhibitors’ stands are sold out and the new set of sponsorship packages that MYBA has presented has been positively received. Agreements are in process of being finalised for most of the available sponsorship opportunities and it will not be long before the sold out sign makes its appearance in this department as well. BWA Yachting were among the first to express their interest and are confirmed as the Official Show Sponsor. MYBA, which takes particular pride in its cooperations, is delighted to be working together with an organisation of this level of expertise and global reach for the 29th MYBA Charter Show.

The level of repeat sponsorships also speaks volumes about the benefits of positioning a brand alongside such an event. Over the years, strong relationships have been built and they are a vital part of MYBA’s strength.
