Metstrade 2025: Women drive momentum across the global marine sector

Over 160 industry professionals gathered in Amsterdam, highlighting the growing influence of women and key trends shaping today’s global marine sector.

More than 160 attendees gathered at the Metstrade Stage at RAI Amsterdam on 19 November for the Women in the Marine Industry International panel and networking breakfast, marking one of the event’s strongest showings and highlighting the growing role of women in the global marine sector. Hosted by Metstrade, British Marine, Marine Industry News and Soundings Trade Only, with support from Barton Marine, the session brought together professionals from across the maritime industry under the theme “Navigating Today’s Global Market.” Discussions focused on shifting consumer behaviour, emerging technologies, supply-chain pressures and the wider international business environment.

Spotlight on leading women driving the marine industry forward

Moderated by Michele Goldsmith, vice president and general manager of Soundings Trade Only Group, the panel featured four leading female executives: Áine Denari (Navico Group / Brunswick Corporation), Andrea Tetto (Yamaha US Marine Business Unit), Suzanne Blaustone (Barton Marine) and Sylvie Ernoult (Cannes Yachting Festival). Ernoult, who is set to retire, spoke openly about her successor, Constance Brément, while offering insights into the intricate planning behind the Cannes Yachting Festival. The panelists praised both the turnout and the engagement in the room. Tetto described the event as “amazing,” impressed by the “energy, passion and support” of the audience. Denari added that it was “a phenomenal experience,” emphasising the importance of expanding female participation in leadership and in recreational boating overall.

Diverse voices shaping the future

Blaustone highlighted that the day’s atmosphere reflects a real shift in the industry, “with more and more women stepping into strong positions,” while recognising the support shown by both men and women in attendance. During the session, a $5,000 contribution was presented to Room to Read, a charity supporting children’s education worldwide. British Marine CEO Lesley Robinson concluded that the initiative continues to showcase the value of diverse voices shaping the future of the sector: “This event not only celebrates the achievements of women in the industry but also drives forward important conversations on leadership, innovation and global opportunity.”
