Marex 440 Gourmet Cruiser won two major boating Awards during the boat show boot Düsseldorf 2024.
Presented for the first time at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival, it impressed the expert jury of the European Power Boat of the Year 2024, which consists of the editors-in-chief and sea trial journalists from the eight leading European motorboat media. The family cruiser was awarded in the “Powerboats up to 14 m” category.
The committee’s jury tested more than 250 new boat models to declare the winners. In addition to the usual quality features of a boat, such as artistry or driving characteristics, the sea trial team paid particular attention to the candidates’ space layout, safety, and price-performance ratio.
The renowned prizes were presented in a celebratory ceremony at the traditional FLAGSHIP NIGHT, the big industry meeting organised by Delius Klasing Publishing House, German magazine Boote and boot Düsseldorf.
All jury members expressed their appreciation for the winner: “The Marex 440 Gourmet Cruiser is perfectly designed and carefully thought out. It also demonstrates the Norwegian shipyard’s many years of experience in shipbuilding. The 440 can be considered a benchmark in this class of boats with no equal.”
In addition, Marex 440 GC has the biggest kitchen in its class, a Smart Canopy System, and a beach club with a hydraulic platform next to the water.
The Marex Boat got the second prestigious prize, the Motor Boat Award, for its flagship 440 Gourmet Cruiser in the “Sportscruisers up to 45ft” category. The winners were announced during the ceremony on 23 January at a special event in the Hotel Kö59 Düsseldorf. It provided the glamorous backdrop for the Award, which saw the industry’s best and brightest celebrate another year of boating innovation and exemplary customer service.
That’s what the MBY Award jury:
“If Espen Aalrud, the Marex boss, is serious about building the best family boats in the world, the new 440 is the perfect place to begin. While it might look relatively modest in a classical Nordic way, the ingenuity behind the deck layouts is deeply impressive.
Plenty of high-spec features, including an anchor camera and floating lilo-style foredeck cushions, enhance the experience. Clever, flexible, and painstakingly resolved, very few new boat recommendations are as clear-cut and unqualified as this”.
