Lusben completes the refit of M/Y Alfa

Lusben, the Refit Division of the Azimut|Benetti Group, celebrates today the relaunch of M/Y Alfa, an extraordinary 70-metre full custom superyacht built by Benetti in 2020 and acclaimed from the outset for its sculptural lines, perfect proportions and strong design identity.

M/Y Alfa entrusted Lusben with a comprehensive refit: coordinated by Ocean Independence as brokerage partner and with interiors designed by Mark Berryman Design, the project covered all key areas of yacht refitting – from painting and systems engineering to the complete redesign of living spaces and furnishings, giving Alfa a renewed, contemporary spirit.

M/Y Alfa is defined by its balance, clean lines and bold character. Spanning five decks, with generous volumes and a layout that promotes seamless flow between interior and exterior, it stands as an iconic presence in the world of custom yachting.

The refit carried out by Lusben has not only been a significant technical and maintenance operation but also a tailored, high-end project that successfully expressed the owner’s vision with aesthetic consistency and refined detail.

“The work on M/Y Alfa has been a source of great pride for us—not only because of the prestige of the project, but also because it perfectly embodies the ‘life cycle’ philosophy recently introduced by the Azimut|Benetti Group,” said Gianni Paladino, Commercial Director of Lusben.

“Supporting a Benetti yacht throughout its entire journey—from launch to refit—is a true expression of the synergy within our Group, and of our ability to ensure continuity, quality and long-term value.”

The project began with structural and aesthetic interventions, including the full repainting of the hull and Owner Deck, combined with wrapping applications and multi-level protective coatings.

“At the same time, Lusben oversaw the extensive technical programme associated with the five-year survey, involving major inspections and servicing of stabilisers, propulsion shafts, valves, engines, gearbox, and generators, as well as comprehensive electrical testing and control system checks” – explained Alessio Centelli, Head of Site at Lusben Livorno. “A project of this scale demands precise technical coordination and meticulous daily management. For this reason, I would like to thank Simone Rotili, Project Manager at Lusben, for the professionalism and dedication he demonstrated throughout every phase of the refit.”

Mechanical upgrades were equally important: the forward crane was enhanced with new software enabling independent arm control, and the bollards were redesigned and extended. The side ladder, stern passerelle and swim ladder were fully disassembled and overhauled. At the stern, the beach platform was optimised with new fittings and retractable bollards, improving mooring and tender handling operations. The project was topped off with new lighting elements, including the installation of a backlit yacht nameplate.

The most visible evolution, however, lies in the interiors, meticulously curated by UK-based studio Mark Berryman Design. The aim was to enrich the onboard experience while preserving the understated elegance that has always defined Alfa’s design language.

The Main Deck was completely reimagined: new custom sofasmarble-clad tables with built-in fire pit, chaise longues and bespoke poufs—some featuring playful details like an integrated chessboard. Walls and doors were redesigned, and the master suite underwent significant upgrades, including a new headboard, updated finishes and redesigned cabinetry.

Hospitality areas also received special attention. Four custom bars were installed throughout the yacht, including a teppanyaki bar on the skydeck and a curved servery. The galley was entirely reconfigured with a more efficient layout and new equipment. Along the portside corridor, a striking wine cellar was created, housing large-capacity wine fridges and transforming a transitional space into a key design feature.

“Today marks a very special occasion – not only because we are taking re-delivery of beautiful yacht with a new and elegant interior, but also because this is the moment to appreciate the efforts of many people over months, their dedication and precision, and the outstanding craftsmanship by Lusben” added Anton Foord, Sales & Purchase Manager at Ocean Independence.

A special word of thanks goes to the highly qualified professionals who brought this project to life, thank you for your reliability, your professionalism, and for the pride you take in your craft. We wish ALFA and her Owner many memorable moments on the Oceans”.
