More than 2,500 athletes took part in the Livorno Half Marathon on Sunday November 11.
During the event , Livorno residents and a host of yachting enthusiasts had the chance to admire first hand the Benetti and Lusben shipyards. Benetti and Lusben shipyardsh opened their doors to sports lovers and visitors, including many families with children, to mark the occasion.
The committee of employees who work at the Benetti and Lusben shipyards decided to contribute to the event by organising an open day at the Company’s Livorno production site, for the second year. Against the backdrop of high attendance, the Benetti shipyard threw open its doors to welcome numerous visitors in what is rapidly becoming a sporting tradition for the city.
A guided itinerary wove its way through the industrial sheds and megayachts, offering visitors the chance to visit the areas where the mega and giga yachts that have made Livorno and Tuscany a center of yacht building excellence on the world stage are created and come to life. Highly successful novelties this year were the introduction of an area dedicated to entertaining the youngest visitors with their families and visits to the recently opened Benetti museum.
“It has been thrilling, for me as well as Benetti’s and Lusben’s associates, seeing how much this event brought on visitors’ curiosity and interest, particularly for the youngest among them” said Franco Fusignani, Benetti CEO, who added “I’d like offer my warm thanks to the whole municipality and everyone who contributed their precious help to ensure the success of this great event”.
