The world of superyacht design often looks to the future for inspiration, but for his latest project, London-based designer Uroš Pavasović has looked deep into the past. His new 60-metre motor yacht concept, appropriately named Babylon, draws its soul from the mythical Hanging Gardens, translating one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World into a floating masterpiece of tiered terraces and open-air luxury.
A Masterclass in “Terraced” engineering
The most striking element of Babylon is its innovative approach to the aft deck. Eschewing the traditional “closed-off” feel of many 60-metre yachts, Pavasović has engineered a cascading series of platforms. This architectural “waterfall” of decks bridges the gap between the sky and the sea, creating an unbroken visual line from the upper deck down to the expansive beach club. By strategically offsetting the Jacuzzi on a raised plinth, the designer has unlocked the full potential of the main aft deck. Moving indoors, the design philosophy remains centered on connectivity.
