Hartman Marine Group, a long-time leader in shipbuilding and maritime transport, has launched its new pleasure craft division.
Based in Holland’s nautical heartland of Urk, Hartman Yachts produces superyachts in two distinctive ranges that represent excellent value and substantial time savings. The yard will also build custom yachts for discerning customers throughout the world.
Hartman Marine Group was founded in 2003, but can trace its roots back to 1775. The company is currently run and managed by Johan Hartman, a seventh-generation skipper-owner. Hartman Yachts will follow in the purest tradition of fine Dutch yachtbuilding, with a no-nonsense focus on quality and workmanship. “We know the ins and outs of the nautical trade as no other,” says Hartman. “Values and standards that have stood the test of time are at the core of our company and underpin all our activities.”
Choices for owners
From the drawing table to the paintwork, Hartman Yachts’ offers entirely custom-built superyachts. Owners who prefer the speed and cost benefits of having Hartman Yachts’ expert designers, planners and builders do some of the design work for their boats also have at their disposal two existing ranges of semi custom-built superyachts: the state-of-the-art classic Livingstone, and the Amundsen expedition yachts, available in various lengths between 24 and 42 metres.
‘Dr Livingstone, I presume’
The first of the Livingstone range has already been delivered. This impressive series of classic yachts seamlessly combines the distinguished appearance of a luxury yacht from the first half of the 20th century with the high-tech finishing and ultra modern technology of a true 21st-century pleasure craft. The name of the series is an homage to the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr David Livingstone, who sailed one of the earliest steel boats every built, the steam launch Ma Robert.
Exploring with Amundsen
Hartman’s Amundsen range of expedition yachts is named after the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen, who was the first person to reach both the North and South Poles. To ensure the capacity to sail anywhere in the world, the Amundsen yachts are equipped with a Polar Class hull as standard. Their timeless yet fresh style – inspired by warships of the past – brings together practicality and comfort, making them equally at home in the frozen Arctic and the balmy Pacific.
Leveraging on experience
Hartman Marine’s many years of experience and smart construction methods in commercial shipping construction enable Hartman Yachts to provide value that is equivalent to or better than that of similar Dutch yards. The yard’s base on the nautical powerhouse and former island of Urk – with all that this implies in terms of flat hierarchies, low overheads, high adaptability and superb workmanship – means that Hartman Yachts can create yachts with short build times and a low overall cost of ownership while maintaining the straightforward quality and excellence that have made the reputation of Urk and the Netherlands throughout the world.
