Greenline Yachts has released the first running shots and full technical details of the new Greenline 42 hybrid powerboat.
Following its initial debut at boot Düsseldorf in January, Greenline Yachts has released the first running shots and comprehensive technical details for the new Greenline 42. Developed in collaboration with Italian designer Marco Casali, this new model is positioned as a strategic addition to the fleet, bridging the gap between the established Greenline 40 and the larger Greenline 45.
Design informed by owner experience
The development of the Greenline 42 was heavily informed by extensive feedback from current owners. According to Alessandro Lorenzon, Global Business Director and Chief Experience Officer, the design brief focused on providing more cockpit space for relaxation, higher speeds under power, and a more contemporary design language. While the yacht maintains the brand’s core DNA—including the elegant S-shaped sheerline, 360-degree glazing, and streamlined roof—Casali has introduced a touch of Italian flair by borrowing successful features from larger models, such as the dedicated foredeck lounge.
Redefining cockpit flexibility
A primary focus of the redesign is the cockpit, which now offers unprecedented flexibility. Working with the Greenline design team, Casali remodeled the layout to accommodate a generous four-person table on the centerline with comfortable sofa seating on either side. Alternatively, Greenline has introduced options that include a drop-down aft platform and an open space for sunbathing and lounging. By utilizing existing space more effectively, the boat provides a greater sense of volume than its predecessor.
Seamless indoor-outdoor living
The indoor-outdoor experience is perfected by sliding down the windows on either side of the galley and fully opening the aft doors, effectively merging the interior part of the saloon and the cockpit into one large social space. This allows those preparing meals to remain connected with guests outside. Galley equipment is of excellent quality, featuring an electric oven, a double induction hob, and a 400-liter freshwater capacity. Storage throughout the vessel is equally prioritized, with hanging units and under-floor lockers that mimic the convenience of a home kitchen.
Advanced power management and solar technology
Onboard comfort is supported by Greenline’s signature power management technology. Ten solar panels flush-mounted on the coachroof deliver up to 4.5kW of energy in the heat of the day. Surplus energy is diverted into a 22kWh house battery bank, which can be upgraded to 66kWh if desired. This system allows Greenline boats to run on silent electric power for 48 hours or more, even with high-load systems like air conditioning turned up.
Performance and the H-Drive 6G hybrid system
Performance-wise, the Greenline 42 features a new hull shape designed by naval architects at Micad that is faster, more stable, and more efficient. While a twin 250hp Yanmar diesel-only powertrain is available, reaching a top speed of 25 knots, the flagship option remains the H-Drive 6G hybrid system. This proprietary system inserts 23kW electric motors that allow for silent maneuvering and speeds up to 6.5 knots. Furthermore, these motors harvest energy while the boat is in diesel mode to ensure the batteries are recharged upon arrival at a destination.
Contemporary interior and strategic growth
The interior accommodation benefits from increased volume compared to the Greenline 40. It remains a two-cabin design, featuring a spacious owner’s cabin forward and a flexible twin or double guest cabin to port, with the new option of a second heads compartment for added privacy. Casali’s interior vision focuses on refined shapes and linear edges, utilizing a palette of honey teak or modern oak to create a sense of real volume and light. Although the project was originally intended as a replacement for the Greenline 40, CEO Vladimir Zinchenko decided to retain the older model due to its loyal following. Consequently, the Greenline 42 stands as a distinct new model that incorporates the modern ideas of the Casali-designed Greenline 58 into a more compact footprint.
