On Saturday, May 17, over 2,000 people gathered at the Benetti Shipyard in Livorno to celebrate the World Boating Day, an initiative by the Superyacht Life Foundation now in its second edition.
The event enjoyed significant visibility, as the Shipyard chose to participate again this year, this time in conjunction with the first edition of “Blu Livorno”, the Biennale of the Sea and Water, held from May 14 to 17. The Biennale focused on the marine economy and was aimed at citizens, public administrations, private companies, schools, and local associations.
Saturday saw every activity organized by the Shipyard fully booked, with strong attendance across the board. Benetti and Lusben employees also took center stage, serving as speakers and guides.
All age groups were engaged and inspired, from painting workshops for children, seaside pilates sessions, and storytelling at the Museum, to visiting the sailing boat from “Isola della Vela” and boarding the NATO research vessel Leonardo. The day continued with a roundtable discussion with maritime institutes and ISYL (Italian Super Yacht Life Institute) students and concluded with a concert by the young musicians of the Mascagni Orchestra.
A day for the whole family, but above all an opportunity to promote a culture of boating among young people, encourage them to discover the world of yachting, and attract new talent, potentially turning into future job opportunities in a sector that is vital to the entire economy.

During the closing ceremony of the “Blu Livorno” Biennale of the Sea and Water at the Aquarium Terrace, the Mayor of Livorno, Luca Salvetti, together with Ferdinando Pilli representing the Shipyard, announced—before authorities and citizens—the symbolic handover of five French naval cannons, currently preserved by Benetti, to the Livorno community. This gesture garnered great admiration and public interest.
Furthermore, the Mayor and the Councilor for Culture, Angela Rafanelli, awarded a prestigious honor, “To Those Who Love the Sea and Water,” to the Vitelli family.
The Shipyard’s participation in this important initiative reaffirmed its commitment to bringing more people closer to the world of yachting, revealing its secrets and enduring appeal, while also showcasing its deep-rooted connection to the surrounding territory.
