Garmin unveils 360-degree sonar with revolutionary Spy Pole

New GT360UHD transducer and first-of-its-kind Spy Pole help anglers see underwater like never before.

Garmin announced a new 360-degree scanning sonar that lets anglers see a birds-eye view of fish and structure in every direction around the boat in 2D and 3D views—then fish that area without having to constantly rescan. This advanced sonar system includes the game-changing motorized Spy Pole and unlocks new underwater perspectives with unmatched integration and control.

“Garmin’s new 360 sonar solution will revolutionize how anglers fish once again. The added situational awareness of 360-degree imaging – coupled with the increased precision and convenience of the Spy Pole – makes it easier than ever to search for and target fish. Layer in LiveScope live sonar and you have an enhanced sonar system that’s second-to-none” underlined Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing.

See underwater imagery in every direction with 360-degree sonar

The new OneVü™ sonar technology enables the detection of targets in challenging underwater locations, offering crisp 360-degree imagery in 2D and 3D views via the GT360UHD transducer. Mounting the system to the Spy Pole ensures full sonar control independent of the trolling motor, while integrated True Motion technology synchronizes with GPS to maintain precise positioning while moving around structures. Furthermore, the system features the capability to scan and store data across an area approaching the size of a football field, with settings and scan modes fully customizable through compatible Garmin chartplotters. The addition of LiveScope further enhances equipment capabilities with 3D visualization and beam overlays on a single display. Operation of the entire system is conducted wirelessly and quietly via a foot control, remote, or a dedicated on-screen control bar, with the GT360UHD transducer available in a bundle with a 42-inch or 49-inch Spy Pole.

Motorized live sonar control

The Spy Pole system provides anglers with high-precision steering of the LiveScope transducer, featuring SpyLock™ technology for fixed-point sonar locking and SpyScan™ mode for automated area sweeping. Design highlights include internal cable routing through the pole shaft for enhanced protection and a quick-release mechanism for efficient mounting on Force® series trolling motors or gunnel mounts. Additionally, the integrated SpyLink™ technology allows for the synchronization of speed and direction with Force Pro motors, enabling comprehensive control via the trolling motor’s foot pedal even while operating in anchor lock mode.

“Since the introduction of LiveScope, anglers have been dreaming of a way to control their LiveScope independently of their trolling motor. With Spy Pole, that’s now possible, and you can even control your LiveScope while in anchor lock – that’s a true game changer for the way I fish” said Justin Hamner, Garmin Pro Angler and 2024 Bassmaster Classic Champion.
