Orders for three new carbon composite performance sailing yachts measuring between 85ft and 142ft have filled the order book at Baltic Yachts as the company prepares to launch Pink Gin VI, the biggest carbon composite sloop in the world.
Baltic Yachts CEO Henry Hawkins said that in tough market conditions over recent months the company had appealed to a number of clients. “This success is a result of a dedicated Baltic Yachts team effort building on our expertise in the custom sailing yacht arena,” he said.
The new projects, which will start building in 2017, involve world-leading designers and stylists some of whom are new to Baltic Yachts, among them award-winning naval architect Malcolm McKeon and renowned interior specialists Mark Whiteley and Lucio Micheletti. The Baltic Yachts Family very much looks forward to working with this new injection of talent now and in the future.
Baltic 142 Custom – cruising at speed in comfort
Baltic Yachts will be working with naval architects Farr Yacht Design and stylists Lucio Micheletti for the Baltic 142 Custom commissioned by a repeat client keen to cruise at real pace and in complete comfort.
Carefully engineered, light weight carbon composite construction is the ideal choice for a yacht which will be easily driven and with her stunning exterior styling will look every inch the ultimate performance cruising yacht in a new generation of fast, long distance passage makers.
Baltic 112 Custom – multi-role sloop from Malcolm McKeon
Baltic Yachts is looking forward to working for the first time with highly experienced naval architect Malcolm McKeon on the Baltic 112 Custom, an all carbon composite multi-role high performance sloop with an interior by the acclaimed Adam Lay Studio responsible for the award-winning Baltic 107 Inukshuk. Sebastian Allebrodt from A2B Maritime Consultants will be the owner’s representative.
McKeon and his team will be able to realise the full potential of their proven naval architecture by using Baltic Yachts’ well-honed composite construction methods using carbon skins, foam and Nomex cores for the stiffest, lightest, strongest hull and deck structures. The yacht will provide a luxurious cruising platform, but will also be a potent regatta participant.
Among the key features of this yacht are a lifting, telescopic keel, the latest version of Baltic Yachts’ Retractable Propulsion System (RPS), developed in conjunction with Hundersted, and a removable hardtop over the cockpit.
Baltic 85 Custom – Bill Dixon-designed performance cruising yacht
The third new commission for Baltic Yachts is for a Bill Dixon-designed 85ft lightweight cruising yacht. She will be built in E-Glass and carbon to produce a tough, light yacht capable of coastal and long distance cruising anywhere in the world.
With her masthead sailplan and she will be an easy yacht to sail and with her telescopic lifting keel reducing draft to just 2.95m she will be able to access many anchorages.
Mark Whiteley Design has been commissioned to create a stylish, comfortable and practical interior designed to accommodate the owner, friends and a professional crew of two. Nigel Ingram from MCM will represent the owner during the construction.
