AB Yacht Design reveals project CANYON, the 60 meters sportfisher superyacht.
FOREWORD
The studio has been involved in various projects within the past years, from fully custom to production projects. “We always try to invest time in the development of concepts. Creativity comes best with freedom and concepts enable us to create with just the necessary limits. We are a fresh studio, and we want to stay that way.” Aristotelis Betsis, Design Director.
OVERVIEW – PHILOSOPHY OF DESIGN
CANYON is a 60-meter long ultra-luxury, adventure focused sportfisher yacht. The exterior design is characterized by smooth lines and clear volumes, with just the tower betraying her mission. She has been designed for an owner who would enjoy more being on a 24 meter motor yacht rather on any typical 60 meters super yacht. The lifestyle of such an individual is depicted on every aspect onboard. You can experience the privilege of being really close to the sea, while at the same time you get the comfort, amenities and space missing from a smaller yacht.
She has an iconic inverted bow and a very slender hull. She is capable of cruising at 18.0 knots with the maximum speed toping at 22.0 knots.
THE EXTERIOR AREAS
Emphasis has been given to the utilization of all the open areas in order to offer the perfect sportfishing and relaxation experience. In particular her aft area has been designed to offer a multipurpose arrangement. It is fully open, yet protected from the wind and sea spray, offering her guests a close connection with the sea. A pool, sofas and sunbeds, a wet bar, ample storage, a fishing store, live bait tanks and a fighting chair can be found on this open deck area. Also on this area the 12 meters shadow boat can be stowed by using a twin-cradle system and retractable tender mounts, all vanishing below deck. So, there will be no need to tow your big tender, when you can easily carry it with safety and peace of mind on board.
Moving at the bow, an open-air cinema, with retractable TV and sound system, plenty of sofas and sunbeds, create the perfect ambience for evening movie sessions.
You can literary spend a whole day outdoors. And because this is a true sportfisher, not similar to a regular one, she has a fully equipped tower which lies 14.0 meters above the sea level, offering clear sight for finding your tuna fish. On the tower, below the captain’s deck, there is also a deck with spacious seating and a bar for a drink up height with panoramic views.
THE INTERIOR AREAS
The interior volume has been kept low and the layout of the yacht has been designed in such a way to provide a simple and practical arrangement. There are no double salons and excessive lobbies. There is the main dining on the owner’s deck aft, and on the deck above, the bridge deck, with the main salon offering stunning views. Less is more.. less volume, more efficient, etc. The accommodation on board can sleep 12 guests in three double and two twin bed cabins (with pullman beds) along with 11 crew members in 6 cabins.
The interior design is modern and elegant with a flare from the classic all wooden interiors from the past. Wood veneers, stacked stone and tinted glass are the main three materials used to achieve this earth toned interior. We did not only want to use natural materials, but also bring a touch of shore grown nature on the boat. In various spaces onboard, atriums with natural plants have been interpreted. By doing this, guests can enjoy the sights of the sea, while also experience the contrast of shore colors popping here and there just next to the deep blue and turquoise waters.
