Feadship Project 1014: A new benchmark for naval design at 101m

Feadship’s 101-meter Project 1014 sets a new design benchmark, blending a deep navy hull with elegant lines and masterclass engineering.

The global shipbuilding industry recently turned its gaze toward the Netherlands, as Feadship officially established a sophisticated new milestone in the mega-yacht category with the unveiling of Project 1014. This imposing vessel, stretching to a total length of 101.20 meters, made its grand debut at the Makkum facilities. The moment the massive drydock doors slid open to allow the majestic structure to glide into the water, it signaled the birth of a craft destined to redefine the concept of classic luxury for the 21st century.

A design philosophy of elegant integration

The design philosophy of Project 1014 bears the signature of the prestigious British studio RWD and is characterized by a rare aesthetic purity. The styling is rooted in elegant, uninterrupted lines that run the full length of the yacht, granting it an aerodynamic silhouette that masterfully conceals its immense scale. A central pillar of the architectural approach was the complete visual and functional integration of the vessel into its natural surroundings. This was achieved through a meticulous study of light reflection across the hull, which is finished in a deep, regal navy blue. The result is a yacht that appears to shift its character depending on the angle of the sun and the movement of the waves.

Engineering excellence and technical specifications

On the technical and naval front, Project 1014 stands as a marvel of precision engineering. The naval architecture, executed by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture, ensures world-class buoyancy and stability under any sea conditions. With a beam of 15.2 meters and a draft of 4.3 meters, the vessel possesses the necessary volume and robustness to house cutting-edge technologies. Its construction relies on the classic yet unsurpassed combination of a steel displacement hull and an aluminum superstructure, built to the rigorous standards of the Bureau Veritas classification society. Its internal volume, reaching 3,840 Gross Tonnage, places it among the elite of the largest private yachts ever constructed, offering amenities comparable to a floating palace.

Refinement through collaboration

Attention to detail is equally evident in the materials selected for the exterior finishing. Subtle brass detailing adorning the superstructure adds a necessary touch of warmth, creating a sophisticated contrast with the cool navy of the hull. For the yacht’s interior, RWD collaborated closely with the renowned Chahan Design. Although specific interior details remain largely confidential, it is clear that the approach follows the logic of “quiet luxury,” where premium materials and handcrafted furnishings create an environment of absolute serenity.

Project 1014, which is expected to be officially delivered to its owner within 2026, is not merely another achievement for Feadship. It is a testament that naval excellence and high design can coexist without compromise. In an era where extravagance often dominates the scene, this yacht champions timelessness, proving that true elegance does not need to shout to make its presence felt. With the Cayman Islands flag soon to fly from its stern, Project 1014 prepares to conquer the seas as an enduring symbol of maritime perfection.
