Pilot’s Watch Chronograph in the original design from 1994

IWC Schaffhausen is launching a Pilot’s Watch Chronograph in the original design from 1994. In line with its historic predecessor, this watch also has a quarter-seconds scale for measuring shorter time periods and rectangular, luminous hands.

In 1994, IWC presented the first mechanical Pilot’s Chronograph, reference 3706. With its unmistakeable instrument-inspired dial, the watch rapidly gained a global fan base, contributing vastly to the success of the Pilot’s Watches. Now the classic is returning with an almost unchanged design: The dial on this variant of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph (ref. IW377724) is based on the historic original design and is just as new and contemporary as its predecessor in its time. In contrast to the Pilot’s Watch Chronographs in the current collection, this watch has a quarter-seconds scale for measuring short periods of time. The rectangular hands are filled with a beige luminous material, making them easy to read, even at night. A green textile strap contributes to its sporty design.

The robust 79320 calibre chronograph movement enables the watch to be used as a stopwatch and for aggregate timing of up to 12 hours. The minutes and hours are displayed on the two subdials at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock. Another useful function is the date and day display. As with all of IWC’s Pilot’s Watches, the movement is protected against magnetic fields by a soft iron cage, and the glass is specially secured against displacement caused by sudden drops in air pressure in the cockpit.

The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph is available exclusively in the USA at iwc.com until September 2018. The watch will be available at other points of sale later.
