YN 18050-5000 aluminium class – now christened VanTom

Heesen announced the christening of YN 18050 (formerly Project Alba) during a private ceremony at the shipyard in Oss, in the presence of the owners and the Heesen workforce.

VanTom started on speculation as Project Alba and the owners bought her six months in to the construction. Arne Ploch from Camper and Nicholsons International introduced the client. The owner and his wife worked closely with Francesco Paszkowski, Margherita Casprini, and the shipyard’s engineers to create an interior design that reflects their taste and the lifestyle of their family: a contemporary and unique aesthetic of understated elegance where they can enjoy peace and relaxation and feel like home. Heesen Interiors fine-wood-carpenters have crafted the custom furniture to the highest construction standards.

The interior layout is traditional with the master stateroom on the main deck forward and five guest suites on the lower deck, for a total of 12 passengers in 6 cabins. In the next weeks, VanTom will be tested in the winter-rough waters of the North Sea. Like her sister ships she is expected to reach a maximum speed of 23 knots and have a range of 3,100 nautical miles at 11 knots. VanTom is due for delivery in January 2018 and will be for private use only.
