Construction continues on Cantieri di Pisa’s custom 40-metre yacht, blending iconic Akhir heritage with contemporary 450 GT volumes and luxury.
The hull is now complete and advancement on the first level of superstructure stands at 90%, while the stern block is in the final stages of structural work and will be assembled over the next few weeks. In the meantime, work has also begun on fitting out the interiors. In parallel, the technical-production department is building the Fly Bridge.
The construction of Cantieri di Pisa’s 40-metre custom yacht, characterised by generous volumes (450 GT) and numerous relaxation areas, continues with the aim of preserving the brand’s best loved traditional design features, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Marco Massabò, the shipyard’s CEO, commented:“We recently had a meeting with the owner and his team, with whom we continue to have a relationship based on great mutual trust at both personal and professional level. This is the first boat built by Cantieri di Pisa after the change of direction, and the fact that it’s a fully bespoke project requires the development of design solutions that make no compromises on quality standards. The yacht’s generous volumes, compared to market standards, have allowed us to further optimise liveability at sea.”
In recent weeks, work got under way on the structure of the accommodation areas for the crew, in preparation for installing the insulation. The design of the hull fittings is nearing completion, and the first bases have already been installed on board.
The choice of material for the deck is green teak, using strips that can be cut into planks of the desired dimensions, resulting in greater flexibility in terms of length and proportions compared to traditional solutions. The hard top and bow sunpad on the upper deck will be produced in composite materials. Aesthetically speaking, the boat will have a metallic silver livery reminiscent of the storied Akhir 118 Nena. Cantieri di Pisa’s iconic black stripes and signature mouldings will, instead, be reimagined in a dark metallic shade of grey.
The layout offers six cabins, including the master suite in the bow on the main deck, with a fixed terrace on the port side and a sliding glass door featuring one-way privacy technology, in the same colour as the hull. The VIP cabin and four guest cabins are located on the lower deck. There are also four crew cabins, while the captain and first officer have their own accommodation on the upper deck.
A 6.60-metre tender and various water toys are available for the fun and enjoyment of both owner and guests. The living needs of those on board are satisfied by a fully equipped galley, pantries located on the various decks, dedicated fridge and freezer areas, and a generously sized laundry station. These features, plus plenty of storage space on all decks, make this 40-metre yacht particularly suited to long cruises in complete comfort. The experienced owner, based in Europe, loves to spend long periods on board his yacht, which has nevertheless also been designed with chartering in mind to ensure that crew operations are smooth and efficient. Ideal for cruising anywhere in the world, the yacht features state-of-the-art entertainment systems. Two 1,550 HP MAN V12 engines power the superyacht to a top speed of 15 knots, with a range of 2,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots. The boat will have Bureau Veritas Charter class certification.
