Baglietto Launches L’INSTANT first DOM133 with hybrid propulsion

The launch of the L’Instant, last week, inaugurated Baglietto’s long launching season, with as many as 8 new yachts bound to hit the water this year.

With exteriors pencilled by Stefano Vafiadis and interiors by Leonardo Santi, hull no. 10252 is the first DOM mounting an interposed hybrid propulsion system, the innovative power system with Lloyd’s Register-certified components recently introduced by the La Spezia-based shipbuilder.

This system consists of a diesel endothermic engine and an ultracompact hybrid unit fitted with an electrical motor installed between the main engine and the gearbox. The 2 main Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesel engines are compatible with HVO bio fuels from renewable energy sources, which can reduce CO2eq emission up to 90%.

The electrical machine has a dual function: it works both as an electric propulsion motor to ensure noiseless cruising in the utmost comfort, and as a shaft generator system to optimise consumption during long-range cruises, thus also reducing the number of operating hours of the traditional diesel gensets.

Moreover, when cruising in full-electric mode, the latest-generation high energy density battery-packs grant the yacht up to 9 hours at anchor with ZERO emissions and in complete silence.

Such a strong focus on sustainability can in fact be found throughout this yacht: from the propulsion system to the materials selected for the interiors, like carpets and fabrics obtained by recycling plastic found in the ocean and from regenerated industrial waste.

While being a full member of Baglietto’s product range, the DOM133 L’Instant can boast a highly customised interior layout, thanks to the shipyard’s outstanding flexibility and ability to work side by side with the Client even when building semi-custom vessels and to meet their most specific requirements, as would be the case on bespoke units.

The galley, for instance, would normally be found on the main deck, but on this unit it has been moved to the lower deck and replaced by a VIP cabin accessed from the central lobby. Both this cabin and the master stateroom, located forward, have automated windows that ensure natural ventilation and regular air exchange. The custom-made opening portholes in the guest cabins on the lower deck serve the same purpose.

Both on the main deck and in the crew quarters, the internal staircases have been redesigned completely to effectively connect all decks up to the sundeck. Here, the multi-purpose bar has now been fitted with a convenient dumbwaiter for easy service and the pool area has been replaced by a fully-equipped outdoor gym.

Since the hybrid system took up more technical space than would have been the case with a traditional one, the 5.80 m tender and the two jet skis have been moved to the upper deck, forward of the wheelhouse, installing a special 16 Kn (1600 kg capacity) davit for easy hauling and launching.

On the L’Instant, the interiors exude a sober, warm elegance, further enhanced by the refined contrast of light eucalyptus and walnut.

All upholstered furniture comes in neutral colour shades with pleasant touches of turquoise, chosen by the Owner as one of her favourite colours. The fine materials and the furnishings by iconic Italian design brands such as Flexform, Cassina, Vitra and Softhouse add to the beauty and style of the interiors, and flawlessly embody the sophisticated elegance and style requested by the Owner, who was also actively involved in the definition of the yacht’s layout.

This unit can reach a maximum speed of 17 knots when using the diesel engines and almost 10 knots in the full electric mode.
