Aquila 50 Sail: European debut and “Multihull of the Year” nomination at La Grande Motte

Aquila’s 50 Sail makes its european debut at the International Multihull Show in La Grande Motte, April 22–26, as a “Multihull of the Year” nominee.

The all-new Aquila 50 Sail catamaran is scheduled to make its European debut at the International Multihull Show in La Grande Motte from April 22 to 26. The vessel has been officially announced as a nominee for the ‘Multihull of the Year’ award, a distinction reflecting its position in the current maritime market. Designed for long-distance cruising, the model integrates specialized engineering with a layout focused on live-aboard functionality and offshore performance.

Innovative design

Every detail matters when you are living aboard, and the Aquila 50 Sail addresses the nuances of life at sea with innovative solutions. One of its standout features is the innovative fixed bow, a dedicated space designed specifically for entertaining and relaxing under the sun. This area is easily accessible thanks to the ingenious bridge-to-bow design, which allows for quick and seamless movement from the elevated flybridge directly to the foredeck cockpit. Such fluid connectivity ensures that the crew and guests can move safely and efficiently, whether they are docking or simply enjoying a sunset cocktail.

A “theater” of light

The interior of the Aquila 50 Sail is designed to be “nature’s theater.” Panoramic windows wrap around the living spaces, framing the horizon and flooding the interior with natural light. The spacious salon and galley act as the vessel’s command center, providing a social hub that remains practical for long-term voyaging. To cater to diverse needs, Aquila offers flexible layouts with choices of 4, 5, or 6 cabin configurations. Each cabin is a private sanctuary, featuring its own entrance and dedicated head with a shower, ensuring that personal privacy is preserved even when the boat is at its maximum capacity of 30 passengers.

Sustainability on the water

Technically, the Aquila 50 Sail is a powerhouse of versatility. It measures 14.97 meters in length with a substantial beam of 7.86 meters, providing a stable and broad platform for any sea condition. Sailors can choose between two distinct propulsion systems to match their cruising style: the traditional reliability of 2x 50 HP Saildrive diesel engines or the whisper-quiet innovation of the Hybrid Ocean Drive™. The hybrid system, powered by 2x 50 KW Deep Blue Torqeedo inboard motors, represents the future of sustainable yachting. The eco-friendly approach is further enhanced by integrated solar panels, which utilize renewable energy to support onboard systems and battery charging. This combination allows for a more serene connection with the marine environment and increased autonomy at sea.

Performance under sail

When the sails are unfurled, the Aquila 50 reveals its true performance pedigree. With a mast height of 25.15 meters and a total upwind sail area of 156 square meters – comprising a 90-square-meter standard pin top mainsail and a 66-square-meter furling genoa -the boat offers genuine comfort and speed during extended passages. Despite its size, the draft of 1.45 meters allows for exploration in shallower coastal waters, making it an ideal choice for both private ownership and premium charter opportunities.

Ultimately, the Aquila 50 Sail is a vessel that elevates the sailing experience through relentless innovation. Its presence at La Grande Motte as a “Multihull of the Year” contender underscores Aquila’s commitment to excellence and its deep understanding of what makes a journey truly unforgettable.
