Adventure Yachts AY60: Ultralight construction with 8.000W solar autonomy

The AY60 power catamaran redefines expedition cruising through ultralight carbon construction, 8,000W solar autonomy, and advanced remote monitoring for owner-operators.

The recent announcement of the partnership between 36ZERO Yachting and Adventure Yachts brings the AY60 into the spotlight, a power catamaran attempting to redefine the standards of the long-distance cruising category. Built in Thailand, this specific model focuses on combining advanced engineering with practical autonomy, targeting a demographic of owner-operators who seek exploration without the constraints of traditional infrastructure.

Strategic material usage for displacement reduction

The primary feature distinguishing the AY60 from its competitors is its exceptionally low displacement, which stands at just 18,500kg. The use of carbon fiber and e-glass in its construction allows the vessel to weigh nearly half as much as equivalent models in its class. This drastic weight reduction does not only impact performance or top speed; it serves as the cornerstone for reducing fuel consumption, significantly extending the vessel’s operational cruising range.

Energy Management and silent living

In the field of power management, the AY60 integrates solutions that facilitate staying at remote anchorages for extended periods. The installation of 8,000W of solar power, combined with a 1,800Ah battery bank, ensures the full operation of onboard systems – including air conditioning—throughout the night without the use of a generator. This approach enhances the experience of silent living on board while simultaneously reducing the environmental footprint during stays in secluded coves.

Design innovations – Digital connectivity

The vessel’s design includes innovations such as the “Beach Club,” a forward lounge area centered around an electric bow stairway for direct water access. Furthermore, the technological superiority of the first hull, named Adventure One, is highlighted by the integration of the latest Navico Group software and the C-Zone system. The capability for remote monitoring via Starlink allows for full control of ship systems from any location, offering an additional layer of security and operational oversight.

Propulsion systems targeting ease of maintenance

Regarding propulsion, the AY60 Sport utilizes Cox Marine CXO300 diesel outboard engines. This choice reflects the philosophy of Adventure Yachts for vessels that can be maintained easily, without absolute dependence on specialized marinas or heavy-duty technical support typically required by inboard engines. Adventure One is currently completing its sea trials, preparing for its world premiere, which is expected to formalize the model’s entry into the global market through the 36ZERO Yachting network.
