Franck Cammas, one of the most successful French sailors in the world, has done what no one has done before: rounded Cape Horn in a foiling catamaran – a world first.
As part of the Julbo Sail Session, Franck Cammas rounded Cape Horn in a Nacra F20 Carbon FCS accompanied by a novice sailor -Johannes Wiebel (GER). Weather conditions were good, with 15 knots of wind and 2.5-metre waves. “It’s been a really great and successful adventure,” Franck Cammas said after getting back on land. “It’s unusual to have a weather window in 10 days for a boat like this to round Cape Horn. It’s my third passage and it’s really uncommon to do it with such a small boat.”
Pictures and video are now available of this “HORNorme” adventure by a pro and an amateur on their expedition at the end of the world, between Ushuaia (Argentina) and Cape Horn (Chile).
